I don’t disagree with the majority of what you said, but I think it’s implied that our opinions here come from personal observations and the research that is at our disposal, for those who bother with it.We can never know whether we could buy somebody better for less as we can can never know what would happen with those we don’t buy,simply because we don’t have all the information you would need.
The clubs requirements, the coaches requirements, the players wishes or demands, the players personality,the competing clubs offers.
We can have opinions but we can’t know what the club knows. That doesn’t mean they can’t get it wrong we’re dealing with people not robots, but they are far less likely to be wrong than any of us.
The only thing I will disagree is with the first sentence you poster. As good a player as Grealish is, and as good as he may turn out, I struggle to believe we couldn’t have found a better player and fit for 100 million pounds. We overpaid and now have to hope for the best, definitely, but that doesn’t exclude that it could have been different and better.
