It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

There is that.

The only one I could see extending is Mahrez.

Gundo I think will leave on a free and it will have been tremendous value. Don't see much sense in selling him. His value won't be that high, for what we paid for him, worth keeping a reliable experienced player another year.

Sterling I just think is beyond renewal now. As a situation, not as a player. But if there is no offer suitable for him orvtge club, then he'll stay too. Jesus feels like the one most likely to leave, he is far more desirable and easier to get.
The Sterling situation is the tricky one, he may hang on for the window opening and see who's sniffing, if there is nothing he want he may decide he'd be better off staying and want to extend. On the other hand the club may say too late and withdraw any offer.
Mahrez is the one of the 3 I could see us allowing to stay and leave for nothing with Gundogan next summer.

I can't see Mahrez leaving despite the interest in him.

He seems really happy here, he plays in pretty much all the big games and has been superb the last couple of seasons. He's got another 2-3 years in him yet so I'm hopeful he will extend.
This^^^^

I don't get why so many fans want rid of Mahrez, especially as he's at the peak of his career & has had a brilliant season.

It's like some won't forgive him for not being Lionel Messi... :-|

I agree , had his best season to date and people still want rid.

And want rafael Leao to replace him, fucking Rafael Leao hahahaha what is it with shiny new toys

anyway his mrs is pregnant and all her family are based in Cheshire I don’t think mahrez will be going anywhere.

Yes i think we will see probably the biggest shake up to the squad since Peps first couple of years. I'd just be very suprised to see us let 3 wide players leave in one go. I think Jesus is almost certain to leave, Sterling i think is very complicated with wages and his contract situation and Mahrez i feel Pep would be reluctant to let go. 4 or 5 new players in the summer still freshens the squad up considerably.
There is no way we sign that many with Haaland coming in. We have 3 attacking players all with 1 more season:

Gabby
Sterling
Mahrez.

I think Gabby will go but the other two it depends on what offer we get and who we can replace them with. I just dont see it happening. I think we might give Mahrez an extension just to avoid 2 going on a free next summer. I reckon Sterling will go on a free in summer 23.

Who comes in? No idea.

My guess is, if only Jesus leaves nobody other than Alvarez and Haaland comes in ,if 2 leave then we would bring somebody else in.

Yes agreed which was my original point about not letting all 3 go in one summer. Like you, im not sure on replacements either.

In fact, I would say him coming is the most obvious indication that the squad will have more changes. It’s an indication that we will be making changes to our style and the squad has to adapt. It’s a very unique situation because the World Cup is at the end of the year, and what happens in the months leading up to it will be very relevant, so you may see players wanting moves. It seems there are more clubs interested in Mahrez than in Sterling atm, and I see Mahrez at the top of the list in terms of who Pep would let go in planning a change in style, and the club maybe thinking getting something for him this summer would be better business than extending
