It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

I didnt want to say anything. As Im not really in the know but when it comes to Atletico I’m kinda lucky to know someone who’s a season ticket holder and frequently goes to their games. He told me yesterday that Atletico would sell Felix this summer if a fee of 60 to 70 mil was brought forward due to Atletico and Simone really wanting Nunez. Also that a premier league club have been in contact with Atletico and Mendes about the availability of Joao Felix.

Update to this yesterday not transfer related but asks how Felix would fit in our squad since he watches him every week, was surprised by what he said, we think Felix is just a left wing but he’s not.

Simone has had him drop deeper this season when one of the midfielders comes off Felix has dropped into a CAM role where his passing can be used. He’s played everywhere this season LW,CAM,Striker Even once as a LWB.

He said Joaos passing is what Simone has utilised a lot this season, his eye for detail and the ability to get the striker in behind is second to none. One chance he created looked like there was nothing on but he found Suarez with a outside the boot pass that went through 3 defenders and created a chance that Suarez should’ve finished. His passing is actually phenomenal instead of dribbling at players hes lifted his head up to see where others are and he finds them. Stats don’t do him justice as Suarez hasn’t been the Suarez of old this season.

I hope we don’t sell him as he’s finally showing that potential which we payed the money for, but Simone is obsessed with Darwin Nunez and we have all ready agreed terms with the player just need the money. Juve fucked us, they went back on their agreement for Morata so we need money now for Nunez. It’s why we are selling Lodi so cheap to Newcastle as well.

If you get him he walks into your attack I think the only player he would have trouble displacing is Foden as he’s a phenomenon. Was at the Champions league game could hear from my seat Simone shouting at Savic to double up on him to take him out. If you do get Joao. A front three of Haaland , Foden and Felix will rival that famous Barca three and you’ll probably win the champions league and a lot of trophies.

Wonder if Pep has his eye on him for an #8 as he matures.

Think we need to realise that if Felix is available this year then it makes sense, particularly if Sterling decides to run his contract down and leave on a free at the end of next season.
Likewise Mahrez is likely to be only offered a one year contract extension when his contract is up at the end of next season.
Felix is a quality addition and ensures that we keep our average squad age down. Considering Mahrez's age i dont think it blocks off Palmer who I would love to see get more game time.
I know pep doesnt seem to like loads of subs but dont we also have 5 subs in the prem from next season...

Lodi is going to Newcastle on the cheap?

Cancelo is a top quality footballer but having seen every minute live he is a shocking full back
Cancelo at left back is the best in Europe, Completely different player as a right back. He's obviously more comfortable on the left, Similar to Ruben Dias playing right sided centre back he is a shadow of himself to when he plays left sided centre back.

I wonder if its the press, when he was right back initially we set up in a 3133 in the press. Much more of a 424/442 press later in the season. He looked very comfortable in the 3133.

He’s the best playmaker at left back in the world.

What he isn’t is a good defender.

Football is all about opinions ,I also think Trent is the worst orthodox right back I've seen .

I don't their as an actual all round left back or right back to be honest in Europe that is good going both ways it seems to be one or the other. Alexander Arnold is the same brilliant going forward but defensively the opposition always target his side. Take Ashley Cole for example he was unbelievable at both he's possibly the best fullback to ever play in the league, Then again would he be able to play as a converted full back and recieve the ball in midfield areas taking people on and picking out passes. Suppose its just the way the game has moved on really full backs are expected to play as right wingers now but also expected to do the defensive duties too.

He's not a great defender in the very classical sense. But he's made more tackles than anybody in the City team, in both defensive and attacking areas. He also tops the interceptions chart.

He defends in a different way which for the way we play has its major benefits.
