With five subs we’d expect a lot more players getting a lot more time and commitment. Very good for both keep a bigger squad satisfied and youngsters engagedAs we had last season

Yes and Jesus. Now signing Haaland there will not be false 9 so less minutes for some players.Pep would need to make them happy with paying time and if he have more top quality players for same position it would be very hard to do that.As we had last season
There's a tendency to underrate players who are already in the league, and overrate foreign signings on Bluemoon. I'm not saying that this is what you're doing with Phillips and Cucurella, but I do think it's a touch unfair to say "no one wanted Phillips until the links started" and same with Cucurella. If you'd asked me a month ago who were the two players inside the league that I'd take this summer, those two would've been close to the top of my list.
Grealish was the exception that proves the rule last summer if I'm honest. Most people were dazzled by his profile and the fact he's a 'lad'. In general, from Walker to Stones to Raheem. Players we went after from inside the league have always underwhelmed Bluemoon. Just look at the absolute vitriol that Kane got from large swathes of this forum (some of still ongoing for some utterly bizarre reason).
Phillips and Cucurella will both turn out to be top signings IMO. I also think they won't need a season of transition as they're both coming from coaches who play very intense positional play football.

I does not matter what you think. philips is the highest caliber player we can bring in to cover rodri. anyone more talented is not coming here to sit on the bench sorry to burst your bubble.I'll be honest I still can't get on board with the Phillips signing. It's got nothing to do with him coming from Leeds. I appreciate we can't bring in another Rodri but the drop in quality from Rodders to Phillips is stark; he'd be a sufficient squad player but if he has to replace Rodri for any lengthy period of time that significantly weakens us in my opinion. By all accounts he won't come cheap now Leeds have avoided relegation, so I'd rather the club spend an additional £10-20mil on a midfielder with Pep DNA.
A poster previously stated there were zero recommendations for Phillips on this forum until we were linked, that sums it up for me.
BUT...it looks like it's happening so I hope Pep proves us wrong once again!
I’m not the guy’s biggest fan but he certainly isn’t a headless chicken, and he most certainly can pass a ball.
He will have to adapt. He will have to step up 10 levels from where he is now. Rodri did it despite many not believing in him.I saw his highlights on youtube, his passing was excellent but he had so much time & space to play accurate long passes. I am not sure that is the case at City where you have to play in tight spaces & under pressure most of the time.
Agree. big Steve said it’s 35m and it’s done. :) pinch of salt45 million for Cucurella. According to reports , absolute bargain for a player I believe will become our first choice left back
Rodri, Philips is his back up, Fern was No 1 and onlyYep, I was in favour of Walker, Stones, Sterling, Ake, I like Cucurella, but I'm disappointed that we had two years to prepare for Fernandinho's departure and the best we could come up with was Phillips. He's a decent but limited player, capable of doing a job, but represents a missed opportunity imo.
Spot on and if this happens I would consider it a great transfer window from us.Phillips has been on my list of possibles for some time. I like his attitude and I have been impressed by a lot of his work for England.
Cucurella, I've not seen much of but he's certainly stood out in what I have seen of Brigthon this season; now whether that's just the hair or not....
City have four gaps in the squad to fill and two have been filled, if the remaing gaps are filled by KP and MC, that would represent very good work by City.
Missed how? Not much about to fair and he hits a lot of plus points .Missed how? What are your preferred options?

I think we’ve replaced them pretty well. Time will tell how long they need to bed in though. We were at least a player short last season, and it showed. Pep likes 'smaller squads' but last season was smaller than he's ever had before.
We have brought in Haaland and Alvarez who replace Aguero and Torres who we we went an entire season without. And even in That reduced format, Neither Delap nor Palmer got a look in. I can't Jesus leaving and not being replaced. I can't see palmer being that replacement. And Alvarez isn't either.
Ultimately, replacinf Spain and Brazil's number 1 forward choices, proven in European top leagues, with talented kids with promise, one who has never played outside of argentina and is only just breaking into the national side, and one who has had a less than a ha dful of cameos in meaningless games for City, is just not something I can see this club with the ambition we have doing. Gradually, possibly. In one swoop, seriously doubt it.
