It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Don't want Bernie going anywhere. As someone pointed out, when Kevin has been out for a while in previous seasons , who has been out go to guy?

No one does that in our team, what Bernie can do.

Unless he is really pushing to leave AND Barca pay what we demand, he should be staying.

Haven't watched FDJ enough, but seen enough Barca fans response, that they wouldn't mind it he left as he hasnt lived up to the hype from Ajax.

It maybe, that he hasnt been played to his strength at Barca but when we have the better player why bother.

Here's hoping that Bernie stays!

They have passed the rights to receive that money to whoever the buyer is (likely a bank or other financial investment institution) for a fixed fee. Because its sold upfront for cash, that will be for less than what they will have expected to actually receive. But barca saying they need the cash now (despite for lower value) than waiting for the income over the years.

In the profits they will recognise the 700m over the time of the actual rights so they’ll be worse off in their profits than if they hadn’t done this but they get a big cash injection now to do what they want.

Its either desperate or stupid or both.

Either way, a club like barca with a 700m cash injection tends to waste it pretty quickly. Expect that to go on the squad rather than on facilities or bringing down their debt.

Looks like Lewandowski and Kounde will be first in the door. Actually dont think Bernie goes anywhere

Its like a loan essentially. They are giving up more than what they are receiving now. The company paying for it over 10-20 years or whatever will make a shit load of money by the end of it.

its literally kicking the can down the road.

That's what it sounded like, I just refused to believe it I guess. It is pretty stupid. Take a big short term problem, and make it a big and long term problem, for a little bit of immediate cash. But then that's not new.

Be surprised if they aren't still banking on the superleague to be the long term solution to their problems.

so its like paying your mortgage off with a credit card?

I think De Jong would be a downgrade, No doubt he's a good player but he is unproven in the Premier League. Bernardo Silva is always one of the first names on the team sheet for us along with being able to play on both wings, false 9 and the central midfield role. It's incredibly noticeable when Bernardo isn't in our starting 11 the ground he covers and the work he puts into games especially big games. De Jong isn't that type of player to cover all areas of the pitch. Personally I'd be gutted if this transfer was to happen.
Potential a downgrade but equally an upgrade.

Bernardo has run himself into the ground the last few seasons, you can only do that for so long.

I really hope so... because replacing Bernardo is almost impossible

on past form yeah but if his mind is distracted by not getting a move he may think he`s been promised then his form my falter? Obviously we have no idea at the minute if Bernardo does want to leave but he didnt exactly put the rumours to bed did he? I would imagine it would be a fast deal to do as well if it was Bernardo to barca and Frenkie to us.

Also a factor is burnout, the guy has run himself into the ground, that must be catching him up and maybe another reason for wanting out.

His role at BarcaI would think be very different to us, maybe a No10?

It’s really curious that situation that there has been no links too midfielders, if City now knew he wanted to go they would’ve been scouting and enquiring about mids already?

As you said, time will tell, but Barca getting that cash is slightly worrying. Although it sounds like they are going for Lewa and Kounde ahead
