It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

There have been talks of Foden potentially playing on the right.
Even then its just not fitting

Wages demands = extremely high. Most likely higher than Haaland/KDB and could ruin squad harmony?

Positioning fit = Need Foden to play midfield or RW to make sense

Injury record = poor. Neymar has 1 of the worst injury records ive seen. He is 31`years old and its not going to get better

Squad Cultural fit = also does not make sense. Neymar is known as a bit of a diva etc could ruin the club culture.

Makes no sense. But 93.20blue has always been legit so its a wait and see...

I can’t believe what I’ve been told tonight ! Expect big big fireworks ! There’s a reason we’ve let so many go ! My god we’ve only gone and blown the bloody doors off !
Here we go haha

It would be a definite turn-off if that guy Neymar is brought in by City. I think it's unlikely.

For me there's only 2 questions about Neymar.

1) Is he coming to win trophies and get his career back on track after a few lazy years at PSG?

2) How much of the €250,000,000 PSG contract that auto-renewed 2 weeks ago is he giving up, how much are PSG paying to offload him, and how much are we going to end up coughing up?
1) Hopefully. But I think it's fair to say, his had more lazy years than productive years since his played in Europe.

4years @ Barcelona, 30+Games per season in the league.

5years @PSG, less than 22-Games per season in the league. 22 being his personal best, largely motivated by the arrival of Messi.

The EPL is grueling, luckily we rotate our squad heavily. So conclusion Neymar has more lazy years than productive years, it would take a strong mental shift from him to put his lazy years behind him because his been lazy for so long.

2)I heard somewhere that PSG are willing to pay part of his wages, maybe City would pay him £300-350k not higher than KDB, then the rest will come out of PSG.
Maybe £50-60M in transfer.

City will most likely cover £300-350k of his wages, the rest comes from PSG, that's what I have heard, assuming Neymar is coming to City.

Already Pep and Foden have spoken about Foden playing more on the RW this coming season

His personal best at PSG is 22 league games. Definitely not a good sign even though City rotates its players a lot, I personally don't think the EPL will be kind to Neymar. This league is a battle ground for gladiators, Neymar is technically gifted and a tricky bastard but his still too soft for this hard league. Maybe he will come with a point to prove but as you say, I also don't think the injuries are going to get any better especially at his age.

Yeah, unfortunately. If he wasn't such a diva, he would have been phenomenal and he would have left a very impressive legacy for himself. As for club culture, I think City is slighyly moving away from what we know them as, to what degree or end, it's still to be seen.

1. We ain’t signing 3 players this window.
2. We ain’t negotiating with PSG, ever under both regimes.
3. A deal of this size not being reported elsewhere is somewhat telling. Brazilian media are very good with this stuff.
1. Why wouldn't we?
2. UAE-Qatar relationship right now is better than it ever was in the past 5 years
3. We are good at hiding stuff as well (Grealish)

Positioning fit is my biggest issue

If it's Neymar/Grealish and Foden/Mahrez(and Palmer) we've got 2(3) very similar profile players for both wide positions (all being inside wide forwards)

I was hoping we'd go into the season with something like Foden/Grealish and Sterling or Gnabry/Mahrez, meaning we'd have a traditional outside winger and an inside wide forward on both sides
With Cucurella coming in, we could essentially pair each wide player with a FB (eg. on the left, Cucurella-Grealish and Cancelo-Foden)

Personally, I prefer it when we play with more traditional wide players, it spreads the opposition backline out and opens space for KDB/Bernardo/Gundogan. Having the option of overlapping FBs would be a great addition but Neymar/Grealish/Foden/Mahrez will likely force us to play the latter more often than not

ps. he's 30, not 31
