It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

The move fell through because Chelsea didn't want to pay what we valued him at. That's common knowledge.

Do you think Chelsea went through all those negotiations after spending the previous week or so working on personal details with Ake without knowing that Ake wanted to go there? Every journalist who covered the subject said that Ake was open to joining them.

It's got nothing to do with opinions or pompousness, it's common sense.

Fair enough if you didn't actually follow the reports but if you did and you're still going to say "how do you know Ake wanted to go" then you're being silly.
Just for the record I didn’t assume you were stood next to Ake when the deal broke down ;-)

we have talented RB`s in the CFG-group (kabore, yan couto)...it seems hakimi is on the market

Personally think it’s time do Zinchenko to leave home and to go of the big wide world..
Agreed. Seems like a great guy and all but I'm wondering if I've been watching the same player that you all have? Zinchenko is fine, but the manager doesn't trust him and he doesn't play much as result. We'll be much better with an actual left back and that seems to be getting lost here.

I think it’s more to do now it’s about time we get a top left back who can who will play 50+ games Zinchenko won’t play that many think he started around 20 games last season!

The Martin Blackburn tweet might as well read 'City are weighing up whether to pull out of the Cucurella negotiations & keep a back-up LB who would be just as happy staying at City as going to Arsenal.'

On a separate note, its funny to see how things change from 'Its the end of the world because we're selling Oleks' to 'Shove off Oleks, we want to have the money to sign a proper LB'.

What are we saving money for though?

Brighton are asking for roughly the same money for their player of the season as we have received for three players who didn't make our starting eleven, two of which had a year left on their contracts.

I will be over the moon if we keep Zinchenko but I really struggle to see why we wouldn't buy a left back.

If we really don't want to pay that much for Cucurella then that's cool but why wouldn't we sign another?

Neymar, obviously.

In fairness, we don't know what Brighton are asking, and where the negotiations are. One thing we do know, the club will push against paying over what they value a player. We also don't know where the Zinchenko transfer really is, could be all done and ready bar a bit of posturing or even last minute headline squeezing.

I agree though, would be nice to get a new LB even if Zinchenko stays, or a new RB as sone suggest. Think ultimately, best for Zinch to go now, hard to put that genie back in the bottle (twice). And I fully expect him to go.

Why would we need to leak zinchenko is having second thoughts about his move to send a message to Brighton? Bloom has a price and if we don’t pay it we won’t get him it’s pretty simple.
Even the loftiest of principles are maleable.

It's like buying a house. They want a certain price (which is inflated), and we're at counter-offer stage.

There may come a time where he decides that, in spite of not getting his 'no vaseline' price, he reckons that he's still getting a very good deal.

This is a fair point, maybe they're asking for more than has been reported. Because I do struggle to see why we'd value him at less than around £50m, considering that's what we've been selling several fringe players at.

So yeah, maybe they're asking for way more or it's to do with the structure of the payment. Fuck knows.

Yeah, this only works if Brighton want to sell Cucurella or need money and they obviously don't.

If that's the case, maybe the tweet has real truth to it. The club are happy to go with Zinchenko and Cancelo another year till Brighton reconsider, and as such Zinchenko would also rather stay.

Then why did they try to sign the bloke from Rangers (who has either gone, or is going to Ajax).

I'd have to know more about Brighton's squad to take an educated guess.

But if they wanted to sell Cucurella then he'd be here already. Their stance seems to be that we can have him but only at the right price. If that's the case then reports of Zinchenko possibly staying are hardly going to effect their valuation of their own player.

I really believe we overpaid for grealish. I approve of the club's stance to not overpay for cucurella.
But if we don't get cucurella or finalize a lb, we have to keep zinchenko.
