We're in a dire situation.

It now looks like Eddie's form has dropped off. He wanted to go in the summer.
Walker has checked out.
Stones, always injured.
Ake not quite as injury prone as Stones but almost.

Gundo? It's very sad.

Lewis is not a RB. Nor a defensive midfielder.

Kevin still shows glimpses of his fantastic ability but father time has caught up with him.

We can't go buying everyone we need in January. After all that's Viana's job in the summer but I think at the very least we need a RB, a CD and a midfielder.

We can then use Kovacic and Lewis further forward. Cameos from Kev and Gundo. And let's give Bernardo a rest now and then.

In the summer we can address the attacking midfield area and maybe just maybe get a LB in!

Agree with this and the club will be fully in communication with Viana anyway? Not like its pissing on his chips if some transfers are brought forward?

Of course we can buy in January.
I have no idea how/why people think the club is more or less willing to give up on achieving anything this season halfway trough because "we must let Viana buy his own players in the summer instead". The most important season is always the current one and any signings should be made with a belief that the player will provide quality to the squad for years to come regardless of who the sporting director or manager is. This is not the 90s when a single person in the club has to have his own team with his own players. Not to mention that it's not exactly impossible to get Vianas opinion on any potential signing in January, we can just ask him.

If I could sing anyone today it would be an attacker who will contribute 15+ goals a season.

If centre backs are going to be allowed to hold on to Haaland for ninety minutes then someone needs to be running into all that space they leave behind.

Yes our midfield is getting breezed past and yes Walker needs replacing yesterday but we have one striker and a bunch of wingers who get about 5 goals a season.

This is the least threatening I remember seeing us post takeover.

If we were able to put away some of the chances we get, the pressure on the defence is immediately lessened.

As it is we are piling pressure on the midfield and defence.

Haaland puts the chance away, and the game gets a totally different look, with the pressure right back on Juventus, with their fans desperate for them to win.

If looking at recent games, we have had chances to take a lead which has been missed, and the pressure reverts back on us, as in the Spurs game and last night.

One bit of luck, brilliance, home goalkeeper fucking up etc.

Def, Mid, Att could all use a pick me up, does one key piece improve the whole and which one?

Press seems to be horrible all over, once midfield presses no legs to cover the space if the ball is moved. Gonna be interesting, no sure theres an easy fix in Jan yet either.

Release clauses and player willingness will play a huge part mate wont it? I imagine thats why we are shopping in Spain and Italy?

I don't think we can expect all of our issues to be resolved in January but I think we can do the type of business needed to see a marked improvement. If we can do enough to make the top four and build further in the summer then we can forget about 24/25. We can't win the league every year, so it doesn't really matter if we finish 2nd, 3rd or 4th. In fact, 5th might get us in the CL next season.

I see this current slump as being somewhat helpful. I think it has exposed a lot of areas that need new blood and has happened early enough for us to be able to act. Had we narrowly missed out on the title this season, there's every chance we'd be sleepwalking into next season. I don't think that happens now. You can be certain that this is not being taken well in Abu Dhabi, and Khaldoon will do everything needed to put things right.

Crash out the CL early, you can buy as many as you want in Jan, don't have to consider the registration limits. #4Dchess

Kudus

If we had the budget and they were available, I'd like to see us go for the likes of:

Kudus (play on the right)
Bruno G / Ederson
Zubimendi / Barella
Livramento

All of the above would immediately improve us and are capable of being in a top team.

The club surely aren’t waiting until January to make offers for players are they? It would be massive for the fanbase if the club briefed that bids had gone in, which is why I’m starting to worry that they’re sitting on their hands again
