It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

It's possible RM may bid for Bernardo? I think his first preference would be to join Barca, but they can't afford him. I can see him joining PSG as his next option. I would love him to stay if he's happy, but just think with that very low release clause he will sadly move on.

Vitinha, Zaire-Emery, Moscardo, Kang-In, Barcola, Simons, Munani, G. Ramos, Beraldo, Mendes, Dembele,..

they build a nice team in there if they can get it to click tbh. couple of old professional heads might be key once the Mbappe circus is out of town. be fun to watch at least.
True, but if Bernardo is interested in child-minding and seeing a club develop, he might as well cut his losses and return to Benfica forthwith. He's got two more years of top-level football left, maybe one more on top of that if we get our finger out and hire proper midfield help this summer.

It's quite possible he'll move, but it's also possible if he can't get Barcelona he'll decide to do 2 more years with us and move to Benfica for nothing for his last 2 or 3 years. Complete guess but I'd put at 50/50.

More than we'd ever have spent in a window, and last year we spent bid, too.

The first three names would still be a considerable outlay but within range and meet our needs. All three could presumably be settled before the Copa America begins on June 20th, allegations depending. If that were the case, our transfer business could all be conducted by then, which would be good for the club but maybe less good for Bluemoon's summer revenue.

The fact that Barcelona cannot afford him shows that it is not a very low release clause. It seems low to you but not to European clubs. Outside of Real Madrid, if we are looking for a plausible threat and a place where clubs are willing to pay big for thirty-year-old players, then we should fear KSA.

He's an emotional lad, so I reckon we'll all know from his reactions after West Ham whether he's staying or going.

What’s the score with Perrone is he coming back, he looked good on his few appearances before he went on loan

Harsh reality is that we're highly unlikely to generate much from either of those, I'm afraid. People can say they are worth X, Y, and Z, but they're only worth as much as clubs are willing to pay, and clubs know they are damaged goods and will understandably prefer loan deals. As promising as some of the other seven youngsters are (Tommy Doyle 4.3 million), I doubt we'll generate 100 million pounds from them.

As for selling Bernardo and others (Kovacic/Nunes), it then becomes a question of whether we use this summer to strengthen the squad or just to stand still. If it's to be Guardiola's last, then I reckon he'll want to go out on a high.

At £50m release clause Bernardo is a bargain for any club. PSG are losing Mbappe. Bernardo is an incredibly versatile player. Imo if they have a chance to weaken us and strengthen their own club they will snap your hand off for that fee.

Plus the proposed new PL spending restrictions linked to the lowest income will hamstring the leading PL clubs, such as ourselves, moving forward, and give much more opportunity to the likes of PSG and RM to flex financial muscles and pay the most fees and wages to players.
I'm not saying it's not a bargain, it evidently is for a player of his calibre. The reality, however, is that clubs outside England just don't have that kind of money, and when they do they generally don't spend it on guys in their 30s.

Real Madrid are the only club that could do it this summer, but if they did, I don't think they would be doing so because they actually need him, but rather because they know it would weaken us when we meet again next season.

Barca not being able to afford him is not an indication he's not got a low release clause. It's simply an indication of Barca's current dire financial plight.

According to transfermarkt his current value is €80m. He's 29 years old, (30 in August), he's probably got 4 years at the top level? I can see him going to PSG for 2/3 years then moving to Barca or Benfica?

He will be waving after West ham, to thank the fans.
