It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

I'm imagining Bernardo on speed. He'd be barely visible.
His price will initially seem steep (ala Gvardiol), but the energy and intelligence Neves will bring will be worth every cent. He would do so much work that the players around him, including Rodri, would have even greater freedom to attack.

Why would he leave City for PSG? I just don't see it. It's not a matter of him wanting to leave City. It's a matter of him wanting to go to Spain, preferably Barca. If anyone watched Xavi's press conference this week, he made it abundantly clear that they don't have the financial capacity to pay the 50 million pound release clause. I'm willing to bet that he stays for another year or 2 before going back to Portugal...

The thing with Neves is, his such an attacker, work horse, a solid defensive unit, a great ball player. Brilliant and intelligent player. He is all-over the pitch, it is just crazy. I would MISS Bernado if he left, but if we got Neves, I would sleep better.

He might want a change though. Some players are like that.

I don't think we'll lose Bernardo and I think we'll add Neves, so you'll be sleeping like Rip van Winkle.

I tend to agree. See out his contract and then take the family home in 2026 before the child(ren) start schooling. He'll be 32 then so can probably have a year playing at Benfica before taking over the manager's role. Might as well learn as much from Guardiola in the meantime.

He would have gone last year to PSG but they came in too late for us to replace him? I think its more lifestyle than football to be honest and he most know when the clause went in who would pay it?

Possible, but just can't see Bernardo wanting to go to PSG at this stage of his career. He's played in Ligue Une already. I think it's Spain, Portugal, or City. I'm not seeing France, Italy, Germany, or even Saudi. Not seeing MLS anytime soon either...JMO.

I agree it’s less likely for him to go to PSG, but if that is his only option, he has a choice to make.

Neves would be a fantastic signing.

I'd expect us to go big and possibly break the mould with the size of the squad considering the added CL games. We've had a lot of injuries this season and there's a summer tournament. It might be the time Pep considers adding numbers just to cope. Defensively we've got a good group seemingly happy to rotate. De Bruyne will need rotation, you can already see he's lost some intensity even if he's still producing key moments. Rodri could do with being managed more as well, and is it only one game we've won this season in his absence?
