I doubt there'd be much resistance from the club if Alvarez left and I think he wouldn't particularly hesitate in asking to go IMO.

He's a fantastic player but when he's playing alone up top he goes missing and I don't think he's good enough (yet) to be kicking KDB or Foden out the team centrally.

The comments from KDB reveal his head has already been turned. The contract has been dangled infront of him. I think this is the end, sadly. And tbh it doesn’t really feel like the wrong time. That last injury has had a big impact on his body.

The club have a decision to make on Kev, and not an easy one.

If they get the sense that he won't be renewing again, they have to consider whether to cash in this summer.

If the MLS is his next destination then it doesn't matter - they won't pay a fee worth losing him early.

But if it's Saudi? That's probably not far off £100m you're saying no to.

I'd find that very difficult.

Realistically, we should sell if Saudi come in with that money. I never really took it seriously as I didn’t expect Kev to be open to it. I thought he’d stay 1 more year and go to New York. But if he and his family are actually interested in it, then I think we’d be mad to not take the money. The European market outside the PL is dead, so when Saudi come in for your over 30s, it’s far too tempting.
