It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

Why does the club's form matter? For example Chelsea made a huge amount of signings when they were lingering mid table and couldn't buy a win.

Every move comes with pressure no matter when it happens. If anyone were to sign in January it would give them an extra few months to bed in given that its highly likely we are out of the race for the league.
The added pressure for him to peform from the get go rather than being eased in a new league and country and adapting to Pep's methods. The player would probably want to join the club in the following summer where he would have the time to really get used to been in a new environment.

All this bollocks about settling into a new league is a pile of shit. The top players will adapt. And don't throw Rodri into this because he was nowhere near as bad as is painted.
Then again, it did take take Sergio about ten minutes to adapt. Just get the players we need signed up and stop fannying about.

It isn't. Even the top players do struggle initally to really settle after a big move. With Sergio it was a little hit and miss during his earlier years and he did join earlier on in the season.

Don't agree. It's one these myths created by the media alongside when a defender breathes on a forward that he is entitled to go down, the great European nights under the lights at Klanfield and the great atmosphere at Selhurst Park and many, many more. All total shite.
Fuck me, it only took Tony Martial a couple of minutes to justify his fee.

And this pressure doesn't exist if he were to sign in the summer? Even if they don't perform to their top level straight away the player would benefit from the extra few months experience in playing in the league. Which would likely help their chances to kick on In the following full season.

There is also no chance of an extended bedding in period in the summer now with there being only three weeks between the league ending and club world cup starting.
