Has had one full season at Borussia Mönchengladbach but they had seen enough of him by February to extend his contract through to 2028. Neither physically imposing nor tall, about the same height and build as Kovacic, but the sort of player who could be flexible enough to accommodate once Rodri returns. Seems to have an innate sense of when to come forward and intercept, a trait he shares with Gvardiol and Rodri, and doesn’t give the ball away, which is what we desperately need. However, he is young and hasn’t played out the full 90 minutes in too many games, so still in development in that regard. Was on the fringes of the national team last summer and the word fans appear to use in connection with him: Maschine. Interesting link.
