It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

To get us back to where we need to be we probably need at least another 8 really good players to challenge . I dont think people realise how bad of a situation we are in.
Got chastised by one or two on here a few weeks back for suggesting we may need 5, possibly 6 incomings by the end of next summer. At the same time also stating the spine of the current team needs replacing/reinforcing in a few positions. Looks at least that number now.

Still think 3 or 4 is all we need, and to bring 6 or more in isn't ideal That's if you can even move that many out to make room.

Did 7 in 16/17 (Sane, Stones, Gundogan, Bravo, Nolito and Zinchenko plus Jesus in January) and 6 in 17/18 (Ederson, Walker, Mendy, Danilo, Bernardo plus Laporte in January).

From that list only KDB, Gundo, Walker, Stones and Bernardo are first team regulars. Might need around 5-6 signings in the next two transfer windows
Of those 13, I'd say 9 were successful, which I guess is a decent hit rate

He'll probably be gone next season, he's at the end of his time. Imagining him our team going forward is pointless.Missing out on him had no impact on us.

Certainly didn't prevent us being successful, and you can't buy every top player on the market............without turning into Real Madrid that is :)

The rules have changed slightly since then. Especially when Pep arrived.

FWIW, and as you correctly state departures will dictate, we could probably do with the following. I've put these up previously, so:
RB
DM cover for Rodri
CM
AM
2nd striker
Possibly another defender.

Any suggestions yourself?

Think KDB, Walker, Gundogan leave probably a keeper too,So that will need 4 in pretty much direct replacements one of which will probably happen in January to cover Rodri. I don't expect anyone else leaves so we won't really have room for anyone else if Echeverri is registered.

We need 4 as a starting point.

RB for Walker, DM to cover Rodri, CM for Gundo, AM for De Bruyne.

Bobb will definitely have a huge part to play moving forwards, he was looking the real deal before his injury and offers another option but I still think we need another attacking midfielder as an alternative option and to enable us to play a false 9 if Haaland gets injured. Or you get cover for Haaland and Bobb provides an option as a 10 instead.

Anything else depends on if others stay or go. We potentially need more defensive cover unless we feel someone like Doyle can come back and bolster the squad.

I’d keep an eye on Rodrygo in the summer, Spanish press leaking that Madrid will be going for a striker. Which means Mbappe has to play on the wing and so does Vini.

That means Rodrygo is a sub again. Don’t see him doing that for another season.
