They did notice, they thought it made more sense to try and squeeze one more year out of that team for a few reasons, and re boot next summer. They probably made a mistake, looking back now.
Though maybe long term doing it next summer may work out better than doing it last summer with the players available and the money and squad places freed up to fit those players in or maybe we’ll never really know.

it's a more than one window job and we don't usually like doing business in the Jan window so even if we could have squeezed another year out of some we still needed 3-4 signings last summer. Something else was stopping us, maybe Pep being uncertain or the charges but there was a reason(s)

There were many reasons stopping us wasn’t just one, Peps indecision will be one though. We couldn’t do 4 last summer without players leaving so thats another one.
Not one window but if we can do 1 or 2 in January and 3 or 4 in summer then we’ll be okay , and just go back to one or two every summer.
 
Has Ake gone and injured himself again? This might be an insane situation of recurring injuries. Never seen anything like it.

A CB who can play RB would be ideal.
 
just get players in, in January that fit the system and you’ll see us win again. Right now the players don’t fit the system Pep wants to play. They don’t have to be world class just able to fit how Pep wants to play, midfield is key to Pep’s system

maybe not world class but they need to be very good in possession and midfielders need a good degree of football intelligence
