It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

I'm pretty sure all these figures are going to turn out to be bullshit.

You don't need to offer Kanté (who currently earns about 7m a year net) €100m a year tax free.

If he's going to take the money, he'd take it for 20m year tax free. Or if he really needed convincing, 30m.

Same with all the other players. You simply don't need to offer them 15x their current salary to recruit them. 2-5x would convince anyone who can be convinced by a financial offer.

It stinks of the usual press deliria, and stereotypes of arab sheikhs having no concept of the value of money. The Saudi's love to be seen to be throwing their weight around (Im aware of the irony of saying this after criticising stereotypes in the same sentence) which is why it's probably not been countered in the press.
Makes some sense if it's Messi etc, for the press it generates. Whilst good footballers, not sure how much publicity you get with Kante and Mahrez etc, especially if they'd be willing to accept a lot less.

Or maybe they've got Peter Risdale negotiating for them.

People forget Beckham and Zlatan got 50 mil a year by going to MLS. Where as the normal league has a salary structure.. the league got sponsors for some players to use it as advertising and portray it as a legitimate league.

Probably what this is.. throwing money at the problem and hope in 10 years there is real growth there.

Also there is no FFP outside of EUFA. That's a strictly european thing to strangle any competition from inside Europe.

At the time, they were big draws. Kante is not that, even at his best. Can't believe he wouldn't have said yes at less than €100m if he was ever willing to go there

The way it seems to quite often work is, take the assumed salary offer, round it up, work out the length of contract, get to a total earnings figure, publish and let it stick. Then take that figure, claim it per month. Let it stick. If still not shocking enough, claim it per week. If really at a push, convert to euros then claim as pounds.

Do you have any source for Zlatan earning 50m/year in MLS? A quick google search says he earned around 1/10 of that.

That sounds like a player expecting a move.
agent says hes getting calls already.

'There is a lot of navigating to do,' Huoseh said.

'I have spoken to other clubs – they have texted and spoken to us; but we haven't had any in-depth conversations with anybody.

The package was 50m a year with what sponsors paid him.. the 1/10th figure makes sense if you just count his salary from the team.
