How good is McAtee? Strengths? Weaknesses?

Decision making which is fair enough for his age

Looked a bit weak early on but was giving it back to defenders later in the season

Think he will have to work on ball retention as that is one thing pep doesn't forgive easily

Top of my head Sane and Leno , but regards the player in question he has every little pace whatsoever, not knocking him btw just my opinion

Idon't know if we are interested in him anyway, but I also don't think pace is very high on the list of what Pep wants from a wide player.

Agree with Pep regarding McAtee I feel he will play in the charity shield and be involved in a few early season games plus preseason even Doyle to bolster our midfield..

Doyle is definitely going back to Sheffield.

Going from Bernardo, Kdb and Gundogan to Gundogan, Foden, Kdb, McAtee and Kovacic is really good squad planning from City. Now most of the funds can go towards that LCB/LB option and a winger.

Obviously it’s not happening but I think Rice would have been excellent in our new system.

If Stones, Dias and Ake were in defence then Rice and Rodri could have been in front of them. If Rodri needs a rest then you play Stones and Rice in front of the defence and bring in another defender.

I wouldn’t have seen the need for him in the old system when we just played Rodri as he’s too good to be a backup but in the new system I think he’d have been a good fit.

I wouldn't rule out Rice or Caicedo.

Up to 1/3 of our squad is leaving, we might see some big moves come out of no where as they address gaps and reinforce the squad.

Totally agree. I’d add that Rice is young with the potential to develop the attacking side of his game, which may have been something Pep would have enjoyed helping him with.
Ah well, he’s off to Arsenal apparently so we will see how he develops from afar. Still think we’re missing a trick here.
