Short a DM, Winger and attacking midfielder. Too many water carriers at the moment in the team that aren't at the level, or are too inexperienced in Kalvin, Gomez, Mcatee, and Cole. Also too much rides on De Bruyne's shoulder to create something for Haaland.

The squad is really thin.

That was the same last season too. Thankfully injuries were at a minimum. Including Rico Lewis we have about 17/18 players we can rely on.

Having a huge budget is one thing.finding the right players to compliment our brilliant squad is something else.
Or should we spend regardless of quality ?

Probably need other areas to strenghten before Gvardiol but the question is who do we bring in?. It is pointless in wasting money on stop gaps. Phillips wasn't brilliant but the other subs weren't much better either.

Really ? You are stating we are told every year we have a large budget and will sign four/five players.
I’m implying the logic that it’s predicated on there being quality available to sign.
It’s not a dig it’s a possible answer.

Didn't tell us anything we didn't already know. Gvardiol would be a very welcome addition and more so the goal contributions lost by Mahrez/Gundo leaving aren't likely to be made up by Foden et al. Need a ready made goal scoring wide man.

I'd prefer not to. Wasn't in favour of signing him to start with, did nothing to alter my opinion of him last season and has started this campaign just as badly (even allowing for the fact they are only friendlies). Nice lad, no doubt, but I just cannot see anything there and how I've tried.

I really wanted Phillips to work out, but he's not shown any improvement whatsoever... No spark, no signs of development at all. It's a shame, but can't see him playing for us anymore.
