Not sure we were ever in the race. Any top tier transfers plays out the same way for us. Linked all summer, then they sign for Barca, Real or even PSG.

We're good at getting the transfer fee and wages up though.

Certainly we got our first Monaco business done early and under the radar so our relationship with them is good and perhaps we had no intention to buy, same with Messi. Suppose it makes our buying team look top division though whilst helping Monaco to get top dollar.

Genius negotiating. Get Silva for £43m when he is worth £80m - make up the remaining difference by pretending we are in for Mbopp to increase his price.

Cheers for the update.... Sanchez being pretty much agreed but not announced makes alot of sense to me...

Allow's Arsenal to not get Barca'd when they go bidding for the replacement.
Had it been June that would make it sense. As it is not much sign Arsenal are in the market for a forward

I would like Llorente from Swansea if it's possible

From memory when they sold Nasri they had an injury crisis and a vital CL qualifier which is why he played.

A personal opinion is that if Wenger thinks Sanchez is off he won't play him, he will want to show confidence in the players he has and get them more used to playing together. If Sanchez starts I suspect this transfer is doubtful save a huge bid from City.

I tend to the view that Arsenal are basically going through the motions to placate their fans. I wouldnt be surprised if Wenger played Sanchez half hoping he looks disinterested. Wenger than give a "what can you do?" shrug and very, very, very reluctantly agree to sell him.

Now that does sound more feasible,I like it,I like it !!

This weekend should be very enjoyable if you don't like Arsenal.

I don't see them beating Liverpool, in fact I'd actually be pretty amazed if they didn't get twatted.
