It's long term thinking, kids like mbappe don't come around often. We are fighting for the best talent in the world. We are gonna be a frightening team for the next few years. A case of we line up at kick off and teams are already beaten ;-)

Real also have several other players to think about, Ronaldo especially in that any wage structure broken will no doubt see them also on the same if not more again.

I thought the club had drawn a line in the sand with wages and there was a strict structure, because of past mistakes, and all the big money was coming from the individual hitting various performance incentives?
It will be the same incentive stuff. Madrid are not paying huge wages except to Ronaldo and Bale. Even Modric is something we could pay without a blink. It's not hard to beat them on wages, they lure players with their name, most of them are on silly small wages compared to PL players. so I don't think the fact they didn't want to pay it means it's anything extravagant.
