It's Quiet - a new dawn

I don't understand why some are trying to put two and two together and thinking that if we are to get Sanchez, Aguero will leave.

Both are entirely different players, with Sergio as your classic penalty box striker and Sanchez as your sort of half winger/ half forward. Sanchez, whom barely ever got deployed centrally whilst at Barca under Pep.

I think Pep has looked at Sane and Sterling and thought both of you are top talents but can I solely rely on both of you considering you are still potential and both of you lack experience when I need to win or my CV is going to take a huge hit.

Pep will want his wingers reaching double figures next year in the league alone and I think he wants the assurance of someone reliable in Sanchez to achieve that. Sane and Sterling will still get plenty of game time but they will have to rotate at times with a player like Sanchez.

Pep for me will be targeting 100 league goals next season so will want as much firepower as possible. In doing that you don't sell Aguero, and you don't sell him leaving a 20 year old as your only real hope at CF, because as I said, Sanchez is not a CF.

Sanchez isn't Aguero replacement hopefully mbappe is

If Aguero decides to leave City it'll be 70% his decision with 30% due to Pep and GJ. Pep doesn't care about a players value, status, price tag or name he will choose a team he thinks is best for each and every game. He will play players based on mostly form (GJ when he joined getting the nod ahead of Aguero), Aguero probably knows this hence why he's considering leaving. GJ all tho has played 7 games has shown he can be the real deal, he's scored in 4 goals and 2 assists in 4 starts, he scored 2 offside goals as well that could've been game winners, he scored the winner VS Swans and equalizer VS Boro, he's showing that he has a killer instinct and can position himself well in dangerous areas, Aguero probably realize this and can see him getting a lot of minutes especially if he continues on were he left off from his injury, thus a threat for him. Aguero clearly wants to play more and be the undisputed starter, but Pep won't allow that as long as GJ is delivering and GJ seems to be hungry and wanting to perform and establish himself as one of the best players.

Sanchez isn't going to be a direct replacement it's most likely Mbappe or Auba that'll be the replacement if anything. Sanchez can play on the wings, as a false 9 and behind the striker he gives Pep more flexibility in his system and the team generally, while providing both Sane and Sterling competitions and they can learn some finishing tips from him especially Sterling.

Pep may not be pragmatic for some people, nor have a plan B as some want, but he has a plan A to Z in terms of attacking, creating chances and going forward. Messi was his ultimate players, neither Aguero or Lewa come close to him in terms of finishing and overall play, Pep wanted Neymar at BM, but they never went after him, now he signed GJ and wants Mbappe both who not only can be lethal finishers but have brilliant overall game to offer the team.
I think you have indicated that GJ has been effective, but it is only on very few appearances. Loads of players have looked good before the other teams have got a lot of material to study and work out how to negate them. Look at Hernandez and Martial at the swamp
I am not saying that GJ will not turn out to be an outstanding forward, just that it would be premature to chuck Kun and rely on him from such a small number of matches to assess him in the premier league.

Other players missing chances is relevant to assessing them but not to assessing the sell or retain question over Sergio. The only player we have who can compete with Sergio for a place in the team is Jesus and discussing his misses at this point is entirely superfluous.

I don't want to see Sergio sold but there is most definitely a case to be made that now is a good time to cash in on him e.g. if we could add Mbappe and Sanchez to the squad if Kun left. If we can do something like that, there's a bloody good reason to do it; if we can't, there isn't. Maybe you know that we can't.

Oh i haven't clue whether we are capable of adding Sanchez and Mbappe...

The one advantage to sanchez is we know he can handle the prem...he will be ready to go straight away....he however doesn't score as many as sergio so the others in the team would need to step up to make up the short fall if we were to sell sergio and that is partly the reason Im talking about the lack of goals form other areas.

Mbappe looks quality but we know he is young and that moving to the prem for any young player is a risk...some make it some don't. Im not doubting his quality at all but can he reproduce it in a harder league? Also the question for me is does he fit a pep team....I genuinely don't know as I haven't seen enough of him but he looks like a player that likes to run in behind the defence..he wont get that space playing for us as virtually every team we play against parks the bus and have 8-9 players sat deep defending......can mbappe play in a team that needs to defeat defences like that...sanchez can, GJ has all the attributes of a player that can and Kun can......

its not people putting one and one together

It comes from a comment by TH who said he thinks Kun is being sold....he is the resident ITK person on these sorts of matters so that is why we are having the discussion

I agree, but I did say he's only played about 7 games and assessing him off of that. I'm not looking at his stats, but his general movement/positioning in those games and his overall attitude and contribution to the team. This is a Pep team so scoring opportunity, creating chances when it's finished product won't be an issue.

Since Pep has left Barcelona, he's been looking for as I call it is his "project Messi". He wanted Neymar at BM, but they gave him Gotze. At City he has GJ and seems to be interested in Mbappe to be as I believe his project Messi the reason is not only how they've seem to be clinical, but there overall game.

Pep said that he played Sanchez in the wrong position at Barca, before the Arsenal home game. He also spoke enthusiasticly about Sanchez playing centrally v Chelsea in a CL sf. He offers flexibility and can play wide no doubt but I think he could be pencilled in to play off the main striker, as well the main striker occasionally.

Our problem is the combination of Silva, KDB and Sterling. Quite simply they don't score enough. I'll forgive Silva as assists + key passes is immense. But KDB and Sterling together is a problem - they need to convert more, much more.

If he's doing it in the CL, then I have no doubt he can in the PL. Granted, us and Dortmund aren't the strongest defensively but Juve are one of the best. Let's see how he does against them
