40k a week? Highly doubt that as bad as he is he'll definitely demand more than that in this day and age.
Believe it when I see it.
He isn't playing and will likely not play next season.
40k a week won't be too far off what he was in at Porto I reckon.

But you'd guess he doesn't want to get paid less than here that significantly. That being said, isn't Turkey basically a tax paradise for footballers? And this being the main reason why they have such ex high-standard PL players there. So maybe after all he'll get very near to his current wages or surpass it even.

I am kind of hoping we can shift him and Delph in this summer.
Just get rid of all the deadwood if we can.
Also maybe consider that we apparently pay relatively 'low' basic and high bonuses, he can't be triggering that many bonuses when he barely plays. If he plays every week at Gala with low tax and lots of win bonus etc, might not be that far off.

Good point. And the fact that they can offer him a contract for 3-4 years, while already being 29, and well, he's still a footballer who seems like a genuine good bloke and I guess likes to actually play games. :) And of course it's quite a huge club, too.
Credit to him if he's taking a pay cut to get more game time. I always found it ridiculous that players expect the club to subsidise their wages so that they can join another club. Joe Hart, Samir Nasri, etc.
Are the club going to replace him, because there is already a distinct lack of solid CDMs.

not that im bothered about fernando or delph leaving as neither are good enough bit it does leave us light in the central midfield area ....yaya ilky and ferna....the last o e who is also being touted as potential full back cover.
does Alex Garcia get promoted? is he good enough.?
ilky wont be 100% for a bit and yaya cannt play everygame....
seems we are light in tbat area and kdb isnt the answer...he was poor in there last season.
with those 2 potentially gone..we have got zero midfielders who have any real defensive mindset with the exception of garcia....
