It's Quiet - a new dawn

Is Sergio at his peak? His goal scoring efficiency isn't.

Who cares about efficiency, he's not an effing machine in a factory. 167 goals in 250 games for us, phenominal. He needs 1 more to equal his best goalscoring season since he joined us. Easily the best forward weve ever had.

I think we're going to have to take a risk somewhere because it's not realistic to spend 40/50 million pounds per player on six or seven players. And that seems to be the starting price for defenders, attackers are even more expensive. The question will be where do we take the risk. I can see why if Pep wants to give Bravo another season which it looks like he does, that we won't spend a massive amount on another keeper, especially if Pickford is available cheap and they rate him (which it sounds like they do).

Good point billy but surely we need a top goalkeeper? I just can't see bravo improving by the amount is required for the premier league? Also I'm confused by the walker link as I always felt we had Henrichs pretty much tied up for around £20m?

It doesn't help when you're not playing him in his natural position. Other than the past couple of games he was playing deeper.

yeah he has but he has also been more central as well and in the last couple of games without silva he has failed to step up

Anyone who understands that we have failed to take enough of our chances this season and the impact that has had.

Anyone who is having a sensible discussion about whether he is at his peak or not.

Alexis is great and all but feel he's being slightly overrated on here. He produces the numbers but watch him consistently and you'll find he's one greedy fucker. He loses the ball more so than any other player at Arsenal AND Barcelona. I'm also finding more and more Arsenal fans saying he's 110% thrice the player as a CF than he is wide, where they find him extremely frustrating.

Just yesterday in the NLD, he lost possession 20 times. More than anyone else on the pitch.

That's my exact issue with Sanchez, he can be too greedy and that is something Aguero has almost certainly been asked to cut out and you can see signs of him doing so but it's an inherent thing which will always creep back in. The thing Sanchez would bring is consistent work rate and flexibility across the front line whilst maintaining high quality football.

We could actually be seeing Sanchez replace any of the players in behind Jesus and if Jesus were to contribute as he has done so far goal wise and Sanchez continues his contribution for us then it'll look better than this season. It's technically Jesus who has come in to Aguero's position and whether Aguero will accept less than a 100% starting role is his decision only.

lots of IF's in that post.

we have a proven 25+ goals a season striker....they don t grow in trees

Can't have objectivity here

what like pullis :)

some people on this forum detest pep for some reason, and even imo want him to fail think this stems from the hart decision

I don't think detest is the right word, surely ! I mean we all want the best,we (well lets say the sceptical ones, yup includes me) want us to be better, the reason we are sceptical was with the fact he got rid of Hart, but you know as well as I do,if the replacement had been better,we would of all been happy,it wasn't the case, and nobody can deny it now.

I couldn't give 2 fucks what he was like, behind the scenes,he was our number 1,and he went,so we sided with the lets trust Pep brigade,we did,and to no avail this season really,so lets hope in 12 months time things are different, otherwise he be gone as well

How about

Walker (26 yrs) £50m
Rose (26yrs) £50
Pickford (23 yrs) £20
VVD (25 yrs) £50
Kieran Tierney (19 yrs) £20m
Eric Dier (23 yrs) or Weigl (21 yrs) £50

Gross spend=£240 with an English backbone.

Sell Hart, Bravo, Nolito, Mangala, Bony, Nasri; Fernando, Delph and maybe Iheanacho for about £80m

Add the £10m remaining from the original £250 (that they say Pep will have) to the £80m or whatever we can get from the sales of these players, and you get £90m more spend.

Then bring back Maffeo (19 yrs) and maybe Enes Unal (19 yrs).

Then we'll have

GK: Pickford/Rulli
RB: Walker/Maffeo
CB: VVD/Kompany/Stones/Otamendi/Kolarov
LB: Rose/Kieran
DM: Dier or Weigl/Yaya/Fernandinho/Gundogan/Garcia
CM: De Bruyne/Silva/Gundogan/Fernandinho/Yaya/Foden/Diaz
FW: Sterling/Sane/Aguero/Jesus/Unal/Sancho

We could use that additional £90-100 for someone up front like Sanchez (or someone else) or for another creative midfielder like Isco (or someone like him).

Just in theory, doesn't work in real life.

Bloody hell what the obsession with English players, just get the best players available and promote from our academy ffs

Well that's me being conservative, my actual confidence in Jesus has a higher ceiling than Aguero ever had. Mark me down here, call me out if I'm wrong, throw stones at me but Jesus will take Aguero's role with ease and if you supplement that with a proven player in Sanchez and if rumours run true and Mbappe comes in ( I don't think he will ) then you add the most prolific forward this season. You take Aguero's goals and all you need from Sanchez and Jesus is say, 17 a season each. That will be done.

I will be so confused if Pep wants Pickford. He's surely not that good with his feet. Has anyone watched much of Rulli? I heard he was doing well at one stage.

whats that based on ? sunderland dont play out of the back, so its hard to judge wether he is good enough with his feet. going of posters on here apparently hes brilliant with the ball at his feet.

A sensible discussion? you asked 2 questions, is he at peak, efficiency. Two more goals for his best ever season, so yes, he's at his peak. The other, i said doesn't matter. If others had chipped in with their best respective goalscoring seasons we would have been champions. ( De Bruyne, Silva, Yaya ). 30 goals plus from your main striker says that that is not where the problem lies, IMO.

Missed far to many inc penalty after penalty.

People need to stop thinking with there heart it's over & out for Aguero imo.

hes got pretty much got one of the best goal scoring records in england. no striker is going to score every chance they get. 30 goals this season, you can't get much better then that.

Compare goals per minutes played to get the right picture, sergio could have scored 10 in 7 games but we will never know

It's clear to me for a while you want us to let sergio go and i have made my feelings very clear how i feel about that,i got a load of shit last time i said so i'll hold back and see what happens before i let fly again

Just to add to the discussion about the stats, Sanchez has played as a winger in some of those games.

League Stats:
Aguero - 18 goals and 1 assist
Sanchez - 19 goals and 9 assists

Just saying.
Add to that the amount Aguero has missed.

That yard
If we're going down this route, Sergio should have scored over 50 goals this season and we should be leading the Premier League by ten points.

bang on, Aguero has scored well since Jesus got injured but that instinct in front of goal & last pass just isn't happening. He has missed big big chances in all formats this year & he is our best chance.

That turn & pace has just seemed to have been missing from his game & it's right Pep looks elsewhere, Sergio knows the score & it wont be a supprise to see our hero move on.

This deal will already be in the making.

If we compare goals to minutes, then we might as well say Kelechi is better than Sanchez, also?

The stats can be made to suit all the arguments.

I do think the time is right to cash in on Sergio although it will be down to him alone.

More pertinently, City and Pep have failed to put it to bed.

Kelechi just ain't good enough

Love Aguero but I have a strong feeling he will leave. Far from convinced that he suits Pep's style.
