It's Quiet - a new dawn

You could argue however it's no bad thing to allow a player to reflect and decide whether he really wants to join us. If a player has to be strong armed into joining us do we really want him and is he going to give everything when it really matters? Pep and the rest of us want players who are totally committed to the cause. If the stories about Alves going to PSG are true - I'll be pleased he hasn't joined us because he'd only be after a last pay day and that's the last thing we want.

Good point mate....which is why I wanted to bring it up! Wanted to see how others look at the situation!;)

Sometimes mate....We'll never know the whole truth about the Laporte deal last year but always got the feeling that the way we let him recover, gave him as much time as he needed and were so relaxed about that deal, it might have allowed his club to keep talking in his ear and might have atleast helped him to extend with his club. Just my opinion and I knew some blues on here might not like it but you know me, I like a good debate, whether I right or wrong, I'm interested what other blues think. I know some fans might get defensive when mentioning the other side....but felt it was a good example to use!
"The way we let him recover" he was an Athletic Club player on a long term contract when we tried to sign him, they had the inside track and were monitoring their player when he decided to stay. He's at a unique club with a strong connection to their players and he appreciated how his club took care of him, we couldn't do much about that emotional connection. Then they also rewarded him for his loyalty on top of it with a pay increase.

United are flying to L.A today..Sensible and less time consuming on their part to send their medical staff prior particularly if the player is already there. Assuming Alves & Mendy will be completed by a week today,we'd do the same with probably Walker or anyone else left.

Not my money mate and say the same thing no matter who is buying. The value of a player is only what a team is willing to pay. My point isnt about the talent or lack of with a player or the price paid, it was more about the approach they took to get their target! Believe me, I hate to say anything possible about that club!;)

But it's relevant, mate. We could probably have got Walker two weeks ago for £80m. Not sure it would be good business though. Or what effect it would have on any of our other targets.

Taking doctors from the sick and needy.

Perhaps it's being 48, and living through the drought that was the 80's and 90's and 2000's, that means that I couldn't flap if I tried. These are the best of times, and we are going places.

Don´t worry, this will be a great summer!!!
Leave the flapping to the kids:

agree mate.....Guess I should have held back my comment for another 7 days!;) Alot is likely to happen on the transfer front between now and leaving for the US tour!

well there is no play at Wimbledon so I expect Tolm to pop in :)

he popped on last night...posted something about "how long can we stare at each other down he barrel of a gun".....or something like that......

Don't know if the gun reference is a deliberate point to sanchez (i.e. the gunners) ro just a general reference to a stand off on some of our transfers with other clubs....could be both I guess.

The major concern for me this summer s the lack of any noise about a top quality pacey DM. IMO after our full backs the most important position we need to fill.

Think Sam(goal) mentioned on podcast that DM wasnt on the shopping list this summer. Seems like fullbacks and a forward is at the top of the list. Maybe they feel Yaya/Fern/ Gundogan can get the job done. I agree a long term answer for DM is a must but think thats a job for next summer....both Yaya and Fern are out of contract in 2018, so maybe Pep has plans for find a long term replacement if/when they leave....

This. Added to that Garcia and even a stones/Kompany/kolarov maybe playing there knowing pep, i don't think it's a priority this season, especially if Delph or Fernando stay.
