It's quiet... summer 2018.

I'm struggling to understand why we need more than 2 new players, a forward (Bailey) and defensive midfielder (Fred), with these additions we have

6 forwards in 3 spots
5 midfielders in 3 spots <--- not counting Foden and B Silva who could play here
4 LB: Mendy, Delph, Zin, Danilo <---- more than adequate cover, any talk of buying a new LB is completely naive
3 RB: Walker, Danilo, Maffeo <---- I hope Maffeo is considered a 'new' signing
4 CB: Laporte, Stones, Otamendi, Kompany <------- I know Kompany is injury prone but he has enough years left and if he is played less frequently can last more years, don't see the need for a 5th CB just to phase Kompany out, give Tosin more minutes or something

I'd prefer to see Fred, and Bailey come in then bring in some loanees to make up the rest: Either Celina or Roberts should be adequate cover if we have 6 forwards already, and then Maffeo.

Sporting manager Jorge Jesus has been pretty specific about Leão this week:

Leão responds:

And finally:

So unless we buy him and send him back I don’t think they will let him go so easily or would he really want to go so soon.

Why do we need another CB? Stones, otamendi, Laporte and kompany is surely enough?
Given how 'reliable' Komps is, I think another experienced reserve CB is still needed. Can see us going for Evans (€3m release clause kicks in if WBA are relegated).

This actually makes a lot of sense. He's home-grown and left footed too. But I'd honestly play Komps on a wheel chair first before I play this cu*nt.

If we’re reputedly after three players in Germany, I’d be surprised if Philipp Max isn’t one of them, and like Fred we were connected with him in the window. Guardiola will want another left-back who can maintain the style of play and threat we have when Mendy is unavailable. Having midfielders or right-backs deputise is all well and good, but at the top table, the risks of their exposure are too great.
