It's Quiet the £250m return

I’d love it if we got him.

Costa seems more of a sensible signing though as more experienced.

Villa going for Chevalier, Newcastle want Trafford. He has been linked to us and Arsenal but as a second choice.

Costa is the safe bet but Garcia really is a top keeper and would be a really top signing and half the price?

Yeah and the Costa talk has gone quiet as well. I’d love Garcia, clearly a great player and would be here for 10+ years if all went well. I like those type of signings, building another dynasty.

I know it’s all dependent on Eddie going to Saudi/Ortega going to Germany so might re start in a week or so.

I can see us wanting to keep the keepers for the CWC as getting a midfield sorted is a priority.

Seen Newcastle fans online thinking they're getting him.
Which means they are either pulling out of a Trafford deal or he’s decided to go elsewhere.

City have spoken to Trafford about holding off until we know our keeper situation.

So if we are keeping the 2 for the CWC there’s a potential we miss out on some targets unless we get them all lined up/done early.

Can’t believe Villa are getting a clear run at Chevalier

Well all 3 have had an excellent finish to the season and helped us get over the line the last 10 league games, so that would be a shame imho.

Viana will look at their wages , age and injury issues. Then they will be sold if they don’t meet his requirements. But the replacements will be signed before they go.

That’s how he worked at Sporting when you read articles on him.

A year or two overdue as well!

Trafford probably just stays at Burnley. Thats his shirt until he moves

Not so much telling players they must leave but they should...

The club has meetings today and tomorrow with the playing staff.

The World Cup is our big piece of leverage. This is why Pep said it could be difficult because we have players under contract, which ultimately offers all the protection to the player.

Stones
Eddie
Ortega
Gundo
Ake
Bernardo
Gundo
Grealish
McAtee
Walker
Phillips
Nunes.

All can find new clubs if they are open to offers.

There will be number of pay-offs and fee cutting.

I think we need to be prepared for more than people think, although I can't call if those with 12 months left, like Bernie, Stones, Jack, Gundo, Ortega and Eddie will just sit tight.

They won't play and that's where they have a decision to make.

It's another reason why Soriano and Txiki delivered the bad news to KDB. Pep just doesn't have the heart to tell people they aren't wanted anymore after he did it with Sergio.

Do you think there is a power struggle within the club? Viana wants to get rid off a few players but Pep wants to keep them?

This is what I said when Viana came in he gutted Sporting. He has no relationship with these players they are just assets some with big wages and some with bad injury issues.

He will gut this squad if he can.

Like you say a World Cup year puts the ball in our court, especially with Bernardo, Stones and Grealish for whom it's probably their last World Cup.

Glad to see Kovacic not on the out list.

No arguments with any on the list tbf. Could we see Doku go if Rodrygo is bought

There is a power struggle going on here, clear as day. Pep is resisting the rebuild, he is too attached to the players after spending so long together. We already know it to be fact that the club wanted to rebuild last summer and Pep said no, putting us in this mess. There are quotes from Pep hinting that there won’t be too many new signings. Then there’s club briefs to the contrary. They are each putting pressure on the other to get what they want. There isn’t an alignment between the two and it’s holding us back.

Pep will always be sentimental. He’s a player that’s become a manager.

He wins with these players, loves the players that do everything for him.

He will always be the one that says not many go, I want them to stay etc.

But we also know that players and agents push for moves a lot. So either the club don’t want these players or the players don’t want to be at the club. But Pep still respects them.

I'm sure he knows it needs to happen but I think he places his loyalty to the players that have won him everything above going again with an entire rebuild.

Hence why the buck has shifted to Viana. Pep seems to be of the mindset that he'll manage whatever squad he is given next year as long as it isn't as big as it is now, which is if fair enough.

I don't think he is begging to keep Gundogan, Bernardo, Stones and so on, I just think he doesn't want the responsibility of telling them they're not wanted. Like he said with Grealish, if he stays, he can be part of the squad no problem - but what he's hearing from Viana and the club is probably, we're going to sign more players next season, you'll find it difficult to play and we're open to letting you leave.

Nope. Everyone is on the same page, Pep just doesn't want to be seen as the bad guy.

It's being framed as a club decision.

That’s good to hear, power struggles do no-one any good.

That list of potential leavers seems fair too, everyone on it is either too old, too frequently injured or not good enough, apart from maybe Nunes and Jack.

Personally I think Lewis needs to go too.

As stated, no power struggle. He just doesn't want the emotion of it all. It's the only reason he is staying, because he has been given the chance to do it all over again.

Very few clubs can offer such.

It’s come at a great time that’s for sure.

But to be fair we’ve always managed to let go of legends like Sergio, Hart etc.

Viana being ruthless with the squad players is great though.
