It's Quiet the £250m return

The question is whether we play wingers and pack the midfield with defenders or have FBs providing the width and players like Marmoush Foden and Etcheverri moving inside. I prefer the latter.
That's what I'm hoping for as well.

We'd need to get 2 top full backs though.

Olise is slightly older, Guler great shout but wasn't couting him as a winger, Pino I'd keep Doku.

It does kinda illustrate the point though, we under appreciate our wingers when we compare them to their peers. Think Doue and Barcola would take the same stick on bluemoon if they played for us.

Guler would be my ideal signing, reminds me off Messi and David Silva, so technical.
You should watch Doue. He’s beyond technical he can play as an 8 on the RHS. He’s literally gifted. Doubt anyone would be on his case. He’s not polarising like Grealish x Doku. He won’t split the fanbase. Pure footballers never do. Everyone loves a natural baller

I do really rate Doue but I remember some of the threads about Sane, Mahrez and Nasri. Let alone Foden.

Reading between the lines, txiki, pep, viana, khaldoon et al will be telling some players next week that they won’t be getting much game time and need to find a new club.

How many is anyone’s guess. 4 new faces min to compete next season to our normal level. The squad needs trimmed so expect loans aswell.

Rb and a Kev replacement is nailed on. Anyone else I’m not sure.

Let’s crack on now champions league is done.
I dont think there will be a KDB replacement......not from the names mentioned/linked already anyway - we wont have the funds if we are getting the midfielders already mentioned plus a couple of fullbacks and a goalkeeper

We're far behind Liverpool-and in my view, from Arsenal too. This summer is one of the most crucial in recent years. It's a turning point: either we realign and start closing the gap, or we risk entering a prolonged period without silverware. At a minimum, we need two full-backs, two midfielders, and a winger.

If we're genuinely considering spending £70 million-or even £40 million-for Morgan Gibbs-White, it signals mediocrity. Especially if the plan is for him to replace one of the greatest players to wear our shirt, King Kev.

Our recent transfer strategy has been filled with panic buys at inflated prices, and it’s deeply concerning. The squad lacks creativity-perhaps more than many realize. And if Wirtz ends up at Liverpool, I can’t see us competing with them without bringing in four or five quality signings.

Spot on

What if Reijnders is the Kev replacement? We looked at both Wirtz and Reijnders and decided Reijnders would be the best fit, Fabrizio has him as our top target and that hasnt changed. Plus I watched a video on Reijnders and he's more a ten than a eight in this Milan team in that video it was explained by a Milan fan that he's played more as a ten this season

That’s what I said.
I don’t think he’s City quality but it can’t be denied that he’s been a major part of them massively overachieving this season
He’s average in a season where all the usual contenders for the league performed badly including Liverpool

I couldn’t care less about ffs Sterling or Sane, back then they had prime David Silva and KDB pulling the strings behind them. This Doku guy is a joke. He beats his man occasionally, sure, but since he’s a terrible passer and painfully slow in decision making, it’s all useless. You’re not winning the CL with a player like this, that’s the truth, whether it hurts you or not, no one cares.

Don’t compare this team to the one with Sané and Sterling, we had the best midfield on the planet back then, plus prime Walker. Man it’s a completely different situation. And now you expect these guys to deliver miracles? This guy can’t even make a proper pass, he just blindly whips it into the box and hopes for the best.

And Mahrez was pure class. We'd be lucky to get someone like him this summer. The ball actually stuck to his feet, not bounced off like some of these..
You may not care about the others, my point is they were getting similar criticism.

The fact that Doku and Sav are having to do it in a team that is basically less good with a less stable base makes it more difficult for them to perform.

He doesn't occasionally beat a man he frequently does it, I don't know what the stats are now but at one point he was way ahead in the league in successful take ons.

If you think a young player with obvious ball skills is incapable of learning how to connect with his team mates when in a stable team that's up to you, I disagree.

Wouldn’t the midfielders be Kev replacements

Finished a massive 3pts behind Arsenal lol

Injuries helped kill us off, Stones 11 games Ake 10 games Rodri 3 games out all season Akanji injured a fair bit, Dias also, Walker couldn't be arsed so fucked off

Not far behind at all. We need energy in the middle and quality full backs that will help our wingers out. 3/4 decent signings and we'll win the title back next season.

Losing 5 points to the rags killed us.

What made us so unbeatable back then was our defence and our aggressive press in midfield , with everyone swarming round the opposition player with the ball like angry bees. They were so at it . We scored for fun and then shut up shop at the back if they got past midfield , Dino conceding free kicks in non dangerous areas, Laporte as a solid defender and Walker flying back . This season our defence has been woeful. and has looked threadbare and makeshift . Injuries I know but this has to improve with better pressure on the ball and more pace. Oh , and watching Mahrez's first touch and instinctive shooting was sublime . Such a contrast with our current RW.
