Tbf I do agree with elements of that, but found the summer where we prioritised excellent ball-carriers in Kovacic, Nunes, Doku then didn't play remotely that way surprised me in general.

I feel the system this year has been very stodgy just to build that platform to nip counter attacks in the bud after those few weeks where literally anyone just ran straight through the middle of us.

For what it's worth I think Doku is great in a limited role and is a bit of a blunt tool to get the job done. Savio on the other hand has more finesse, depth and creativity to his game and with the right nurturing could be as good a winger has we've had. Not saying he's guaranteed to be, but it's definitely not potential I'd sacrifice easily.

What exactly do we do? Our coach wants to leave with the exact same players he won here and doesn’t really allow new signings.
Viana has to intervene here. The fact that no one realizes that Pep wanted to leave this summer with this players so we would need to completely overhaul the squad is crazy. Keeping Bernardo and Gundogan is just taking minutes from players like Gonzalez or O’Reilly. Same with stones and ake who are luckily homegrown. It’s WC season so maybe stones would leave but I highly doubt it.

Newcastle will strengthen their bench while Arsenal might finally get their #9 , left winger and zubizamendi.

I assess our team after season, not pre-empt how bad it's going to get or how great another team is going to be! Funny, some fans look at other clubs with positivity but seem to find the negative in their team before a ball is kicked for next season!

It’s mad isn’t it, we do it to ourselves over and over. Never strengthening at the right time. I think if the same happens this window the recovery under a new manager will get beyond him. There would have to be too many new faces all at once. It started with Phillips and the desire to buy average players continues. We got lucky when we turned Delph into a left back and now Pep thinks he can do it with any player in any position

Antonee Robinson is homegrown. He’s English and came up through the Everton academy, just represents the US NT.

Liverpool won one title and were out done by us repeatedly. In their worst season they were out of the CL. We had just won four in a row and our bad year sees us finish third. That's why people are retaining faith. It could have been much worse, without Pep and a huge investment in Jan maybe it would have been. Pep wants a high quality squad the same as the rest of us. He doesn't want a huge group that means people get left out. It causes friction, it causes rifts and it makes his job a lot harder than it needs to be.
