It's Quiet the £250m return

Didn't Palace want £85m for Gheui, 2 seasons ago. That's before they were gifted the FA Cup & European football
Chelsea were sniffing around as well as Newcastle but sounds like Newcastle have money issues.

I guess if they sold us Livramento they’d still be getting good money but selling Isak to teams like Arsenal or Liverpool would improve them so much more that Newcastle may feel they have less of a chance succeeding.

I'd take a punt on him if we can convince Ortega to stay.
Not convinced by either, to be fair. As you pointed out yesterday, the age of pressing the City goalkeeper is now well and truly at an end and, bearing that in mind, we need to get the best shot stopper we can find. I can happily live without Eddie’s 2 assists a season if we can keep a few more clean sheets and that all stems from having a proper keeper.

Not so much telling players they must leave but they should...

The club has meetings today and tomorrow with the playing staff.

The World Cup is our big piece of leverage. This is why Pep said it could be difficult because we have players under contract, which ultimately offers all the protection to the player.

Stones
Eddie
Ortega
Gundo
Ake
Bernardo
Gundo
Grealish
McAtee
Walker
Phillips
Nunes.

All can find new clubs if they are open to offers.

There will be number of pay-offs and fee cutting.

I think we need to be prepared for more than people think, although I can't call if those with 12 months left, like Bernie, Stones, Jack, Gundo, Ortega and Eddie will just sit tight.

They won't play and that's where they have a decision to make.

It's another reason why Soriano and Txiki delivered the bad news to KDB. Pep just doesn't have the heart to tell people they aren't wanted anymore after he did it with Sergio.
I'm surprised they have meetings with players and they aren't all off on holiday already unless they are doing it on the phone.
Also would have thought them conversations would take place via the agent rather than directly with the players.

It’s more an issue with the association trained players- once Walker left we had Ake, Stones, Grealish and Carson. If 3 of them leave then the likes of MGW and Livramento make sense.
I get that, but I'd be surprised if Carson goes & if we sign MGW we'd be down to a squad of 23 & moving both Ake & Stones on with their injury issues will be difficult

I'm very positive about our future. January was a superb window for the club. Three young CBs purchased, a young midfielder capable of covering Rodri and also playing further forwards and Marmoush who has settled excellently. We've taken the difficult but logical decision of letting De Bruyne leave. That shows that the board know big decisions need to be made and they're not afraid to make them. They're building for the future and trying to give Pep the squad he needs to succeed.

If fit, Stones and Ake are absolutely superb players. You'd have them in a squad over some of the younger options we have. But they're never fit. Pep can't rely on them. As tough as it is you need to thank them for their service and try and shift them. The same is true for others as well. We might not have long left with Pep. We need to give him the best chance of success, whilst also ensuring the club is set up for life without him.
January was not superb at all. Marmoush has been a decent signing - but then he should be for the fee and wages he cost. The rest of the signings haven’t worked so far.

The other signings may have been for the future but they have hardly had a sniff which is not a good sign.

The Rodri cover didn’t play even though Rodri was injured. Reis and Exheverri have hardly kicked a ball for 4 months and by the end of the season neither Khusanov or Reis were even in the squad. Neither have a hope of making it at City.

If you are a £30 centre half signing and you don’t play when we have 3 centre half’s injured then there is nothing doing for you.

I’m excited for the Summer changes but that £200m spent in January was really poor.

Stones/Ake = Guehi/Any CB
Akanji/Nunes = Livra
KDB/Gundo = Reijnders
Jack/McAtee = MGW

to get the numbers down. How i expect the summer to go etc (target names interchangeable with whoever you like)

One of the reasons that teams have stopped pressing the keeper is because Eddy can beat that press by playing it longer to Haaland. The problem is not just the goalkeeper but allowing counter attacking teams the freedom of our half
