I happened to watch his extraordinary goal against Chelsea (I think?), the one that got awarded the best goal of the season 2024/2025 by a number of media outlets and nominated by Guinness Goal of the Season. I thought his technical abilities, incredible control, athleticism and his speed of thought and decision-making were all displayed in seconds in his movement leading up to the goal.

Top players, demand the ball and control a game like Isco did in the 1st half for Betis and like Cole Palmer did for Chelsea in the 2nd half. Gundogan has flickered in games but he has not controlled any game this season.

I like him but his wages are too high for an average player who is filling a role model role, in my opinion.

This is my opinion, re: all players past their prime. If you want to keep playing and actually play, move to a "lesser" league and take a smaller wage. It's still more than most of us here would earn in 10 years, (20 years?) If you want to show up and simply collect a cheque for how good you were five years ago before your lost your pace, your reflexes and desire, I am not in favour of that.

Again, this is my opinion. No doubt others disagree and that is ok.
