It's Quiet the £250m return

can’t tell me there isn’t a championship player with huge potential or being too good for the championship that English top teams barely go for them.
Can't tell you there is either. If there was though the club would know about them.

I was thinking Dibling or Rigg. Look very talented
not seen enough of Rigg, heard good things but we get one of these almost every summer from a championship team, Hackney was the last but no one has taken a punt etc

I’m relaxed about the full back position.

In all the time Pep’s been here we’ve rarely had traditional full backs. Walker is obviously the stand out and offered nothing in the final third but with his pace was excellent defensively. Delph, Zinchenko, Nunes, O’Reilly, Ake, Gvardiol, Akanji have all been used at full back and done a solid enough job that’s seen us be very successful and win a lot.

I’m sounding like a broken record but I don’t believe Pep’s going to change his principles. We’re not going to suddenly see City start playing more direct football, using overlapping full backs to put loads of crosses into the box or any change to his principles. This season was shocking. Our tactics were a means to an end. It was Pep finding a way to get results, nothing more.

With the right personnel we’ll see the basic principles again.

For me, we need someone fast who can replace Walker and sit as a third CB when we're in possession to cover counter attacks. Other than that Walker didn't do a huge amount to contribute to our game in possession. Do we need to spend a fortune on someone to do that job?
Khusanov played in a 3 for Uzbekistan and although it was against the UAE, you'd think he'd be ideal next to Dias & Gvardiol

We need homegrown players. Livramento is not worth 70 to 80 million pounds he’s 50 to 60 at best but because of the homegrown rule there’s 20 million premium. Same with Gibbs white 50 to 60 at best but because he’s homegrown forest will want 80.

Problem is you are going to have to pay a premium for a homegrown player look at palace rejecting 60 million for Guehi with 1 year left on his contract.

Need to sort the homegrown issue. I’d say Wharton but Palace want 70 for him which is being briefed from their side.

Makes sense now why we want Gibbs white.
You're right he's not but I could take over paying and the club spending up to about £65m on him because we've done so well on the other deals. Remember everyone said we were mad to pay £50m for Walker and now it looks like a bargain. He's only 22, if we can get 8 or 9 years out of him and get a few quid in down the road then it'll have been value for money

Genuinely I think the best of the young players in the championship are no better than the youth products we discard each year. The likes of Arblaster, Bellinghams brother, Chris Rigg, Thomas Watson etc.

Some of the other best players in championship, like Shea Charles and Trafford are literally our youth cast offs that haven't yet made it into the prem yet like Delap, Rogers and so on.

Brighton seem to be hoovering up young english championship talent, like Watson and Arblaster. Presumably so they can sell them 3/4 years later.

We do sign a lot of players from the championship, they just happen to be 12-16 yo.

£65m you could understand, but considering Newcastle paid about £40m for him with add-ons they'll be looking at £80m minimum I'd have thought. English, young, three year contract. If they sell it's for big money to replenish their squad. And that number for a full back, when we've had plenty of success using midfielders/CBs in the role in previous campaigns is a nonsense in my opinion.

We bought someone young and quick in Jan. He's good on the ball and strong, stick him at RB if needed.
