You are free to dislike Pep or his decisions as much as you like, but the truth is he won the most points in the 2nd half of the season with a squad ravaged by injuries. Your logic is flawed because it's just outcome based, which you have reiterated, which is a terrible & simplistic argument. Yes, it's clear why Pep played who he played; no the results don't then determine that they couldn't have been achieved a different way. The outcomes aren't even always an indicator of the process, hence the statement about the FA cup final.

No idea what your first paragraph is trying to state - Pep's own quote is that he thought they weren't ready to play in November, December, January, February and he was wrong, he should have played them. The point being, that he acknowledged he could have done it a different way, because he acknowledges that he is fallible. He does what he thinks is right & best, and he's pretty fucking good at it but we don't need to be revisionist.

I think you are a reasonable poster and there isn't much I disagree with. But it seems to me that you are jumping to conclusions with this "just outcome based" claim. Where did I state or imply that outcomes are the the only criterion to judge things? Or that alternative ways to achieve things were impossible?

We can say that Pep wasn't right to play the old guard despite the relative success (3rd) if we know for a fact or are highly confident that he could have done it by benching G, B and A. But it's highly hypothetical. Yes, it was possible to get 3rd with much more minutes to younger players, but how likely it was is anyone's guess.

Again, I didn't imply it was impossible to do the same or better with younger players but that Pep had good reasons to rely on the experienced ones. And he was right to do so. Arguing otherwise would be like arguing that he could have won the Treble with Foden instead of Grealish or Walker instead of Akanji or something like that. Yes, it was possible to do that but how likely it was is anyone's guess. Outcomes are decisive ultimately, even if they are not everything.
