Makes me wonder. When looking at the Wirtz thread before moving to Liverpool he was considered the better player and the reason we would win the league. Also the player who would make the 10 his own and push Foden out wide.

By the same rule, it isn’t “cult member” behaviour it or “not allowing anyone to criticize Pep” if I point out that we have only two defeats in the last 21 matches. And one of those was a fiddle.

We finished third in the premier league on merit not thirteenth in league one. Even in an off year we are still the third best team in the country.
 
Its just easy to berate all our players since we had a shit season. I would like to see/compare players over 2-3 seasons atleast. Foden had a big dip which coincidentally the team also did. However he was the Player of the year the season before so lets not think he some muck and Wirtz is the next coming of Zidane. Lets see what seasons they have.

Some on here really underestimate our squad. I bet Pool would have loved to have our squad a season back.

Before last season in the POTY season I didn't see the need for us to be looking at Wirtz because I thought Foden was the better player, he still can be.

or might not be ,foden is 25 now , not an 18 year old talent anymore. Never said he will be a ballon dor winner ,like 80% here thought ,but if he gets back to his best ,he will be one of our main players for sure and his best is very needed.

Not sure what being 18 has to do with it he was the best player in the Premier league just 12 months ago, we aren't talking potential just getting back to his best.

I think you see the best of phil when you surround him with technical talent (cage ballers) Phils a cage footballer, grew up playing on the streets or in a cage, skills dribbling etc he said this he played footbal, as much as he could even now on his time off hes out playing in a field or astro on his stories. Cherki the same. Let them two have fun on the pitch. Phils best season he was pulling out nutmegs different skills two touch , one twos etc he was having fun.

Last season he looked like, one he was in pain and two he didn't look like he was enjoying or having fun out there.

I disagree.

I rate and love Foden, and wouldn’t swap him for Wirtz. And on his day he is the better player.

But head and shoulders above, as a sweeping statement? Sorry mate, that he is not. Not overall, not with the lapses and off days of which he has many.

Still wouldn’t swap him though!

Its fact that Nunes is NOT a right back - we bought him as a midfielder and before last season he has never played there..so no he is not a right back. Rico Lewis started as a right back and got usurped by someone who is NOT a right back - that in itsefl speaks volumes

The cover for Dias - some of them wont be available...Stones and Ake will miss more games than they play so our cover is Akanji and the two youngsters (one who maybe loaned out)....

If you think that is good enough to go for the title then fair enough...I say its good enough for top 4-5.

If people cant take someone pointing out flaws in the squad then fine....lets debate it..Im fine with that but saying its depressing is just a little weak at very best....disagree - I have zero problem with that

What Ive seen on this forum over the 15 years or so Ive been on here is that if you post happy clappy stuff then its all fine.....the moment you post anything about needing to improve some people jump all over it. Ivec ome to the conclusion that they are so delicate about the topic of MCFC that they just cant handle it....I wonder why?.....god help them on anything of real importance.

I don't know whether Ake will be available or not. And, as the transfer window isn't done until September, I am not worried a jot.

If players, like Nunes, cannot be moulded, the Joelinton should have stayed as a failing striker rather than becoming one of the most physical and powerful central midfielders in the PL. Coaching can help players adapt to new roles, and sometimes their original position was not right for them anyway.

I am excited by the plethora of young talent in the squad and looking forward to the season ahead. We have flaws like any team, but I would bet that the fans of other teams consider us one of the favourites for the league.
