It's Quiet the £250m return

It's all well and good wanting a right back but there has to be buyers for those players we want out and at the minute, I see it as unlikely all of those go. The squad is massive and foreign spots need to be free'd for champions league squad purposes
Chelsea didn't worry about that last season. Just need to get the business we want done and i'm sure we'll get buyers for the players we want to sell/loan.

I remember FFS Mahrez, and Raheem who couldn't hit a barn door, and Cancelo's attitude.
We seem to only truly appreciate those who are no more.
Time to appreciate a new generation, me thinks.

I am really missing the games.
I cannot wait for the season either.
Yes, we have been spoiled.
YES - I am telling you that Cherki, Marmoush, Foden, Haaland, Doku and Savinho are going to KILL IT!
I like Cherki and Mooshy already. My jury is out on Doku, however if his cwc showings are to go by, then hopefully improve. I'm not taken with Savinho make or break for me this season.

The passing in this game * v Spuds was absolutely pinpoint on point. We need to regain that pdq!!

Ake played on with a broken bone in his foot last season did he not? He had surgery and now just needs to get match fit. Can't see any reason why we'd get rid at this point.
This is his injury record in:Screenshot 2025-07-29 at 18.12.48.pngScreenshot 2025-07-29 at 18.13.08.png

It doesnt look great...those hamstring injuries, muscular injuries are happening pretty frequently and keeping him out for weeks at a time.

If he could stay fit Id say he we definitely keep him.

I guess at least it is better than Stone's injury record so if we had to keep one of them it would be Ake

But we cant afford to keep both of them

Savinho gets a fucking rough ride from our fans.

He only turned 21 in April, and is in his first season in a new League and a new country, different to anything he’s played in before - yet it seems some of our fans expected him to be on it from the start.

He’s been very inconsistent - but that’s what you get with 20 year olds. It takes a bit of time and patience til they’re producing with any level of consistency.

He’s probably been overplayed too, given how bare bones our squad was last season - and the need to inject a bit of unpredictability into our game.

Not necessarily a dig at you mate - just a very noticeable theme on here, and an indictment of the instant gratification, stridently melodramatic mindset of the modern football fan.

He is an EXCEPTIONAL talent, IMO.
I believe that he will go on to prove exactly that, but he is a developing player, as all 20 year olds are.

Ake is still a great player for depth.

He should not be starting 40+ games a season but he is a very good player to keep for cup games, and when players need a break.

Dont disagree that he is a great player...he has been fabulous for us - a very underrated signing. But Pep said last year he needs players that are going to be available most of the time. Does Ake fit into this bracket...He is on the edge of that in my opinion.

Maybe as you say for depth but we should be thinking about replacing him in the next 12 months

I wish I was a modern footy fan! Bit long in my gnashers now. I certainly wouldn't call him out and FFS Savinho etc, it's just what I've seen with his play and my view. He has been good in fits and starts, I know he is young, but then you look at say Lamine Yamal at Barca, or Bradley Barcola at PSG, they are both young and foe me ' fully formed'. I don't know where they originate from and of they are in their birth countries I know that can make a difference.

Let's watch Sav with interest next season, I hope he does find his feet and shooting boots!! Benefits every one :-)

Yeah - I realise it might have come across like a bit of a dig at you, which really wasn’t my intention.

Like you say - Yamal and Barcola are both playing in their birth countries. Yamal has only ever played for Barca.

They know the language, the culture - and they grew up playing in and absorbed in the leagues they currently play in.

They’re both incredible players, of course - but Savinho’s situation is completely different.

He deserves a bit of slack, and at least another season til we know what kind of a player he could be for us - but patience is a rare commodity these days, it seems!

All of that makes perfect sense. However achieving all those sales will be a lot harder in reality.

Stones is so injury prone that we may have to cut losses and loan him out for the last year of his contract so he can then go on a free.

Akanji - suggests that Khusonov is thought of as ready? - if he goes and we dont see Khusonov as ready we need a centre half to replace him.

Gundo - hopefully goes to Turkey - nominal fee Id guess

McAtee - first bid refused...hopefully get done about 30m which if we have a first refusal buy back would be great business

Nunes and Grealish will be the hardest to shift. Grealish cause of his wages and who will want Nunes? - one of the promoted teams maybe?

The only other one Id question is Ake - again like Stones he has been amazing but he will spend plenty of time injured...we need players that are available more than not and Ake doesnt really fit into that category (didnt he get injured again in the CWC?)

Presuming Ortega will go once we have got James Trafford through the door?

As Ive been saying all along...a right back is essential
Agree re Grealish, his under par performances last season and massive wages, coupled with every team knowing we don’t want him, will make him hard to shift. If we do I guess we’ll end up paying wages on a loan or getting a very much reduced fee.
Nunes, likewise will be hard to move on. He’s clearly not a right back, so no team will want him for that role and Pep damaged his value as a midfielder by saying he wasn’t intelligent enough for that position. He was a panic buy and hugely overpriced. Guess we’ll have to take our medicine.

Agree on replacing him in the next 12 months.

But he's HG and on a very respectable deal, and can cover multiple positions. Unless some jaw dropping offer comes in I would keep him.

I love Ake and always feel reassured when he is in the team.

BTW I certainly didn't take your comments as a dig! I've had far worse aimed at me on here, the most memorable was being accused of being a Dipper!

Hopefully a new season and being far more familiar with surroundings, the PL and the lingo will help.

I'm getting very impatient waiting for the season!!

Different folk mature at different rates. De Bruyne and Salah were 21 and 22 when they couldn't get into Chelseas team.

In 5 seasons at City, Ake has started only in 2 seasons 10+ league games. Lots of injuries.

He's a fan favourite, so many think it's better to keep him than Akanji, who isn't HG but has been a lot more available.

I love Ake and always feel reassured when he is in the team.
So do I. If only we could have a fully fit Stones and Ake. I’m hoping we still can.

At his best I think Stones might well be the best defender City has ever had. Unfortunately I think Pep has had enough. It’s only my opinion but I think Stones puts England ahead of City every time and only he knows why he is prepared to gamble with his fitness for the National team but be ultra cautious with City.

Strange take on a player who has league winners medals with us and Real Madrid and no less than 4 CL winners medals (3 with RM, 1 with Chelsea). He's also coming up on 600 top level appearances.
I don’t think he is at that level anymore. You could say the same of Kevin.
