Plus Delph at left back at one point who even though a midfielder was an absolute warrior of a player and a physical unit as well....can we say that of our options as right back unless Pep decides to play Khusonov there (which for me at this point is now the best option - unless Stones can get himself fit and stay fit)

Both Kompany and Stones were injury prone: Otamendi was the best defender back in 17/18 and was the only firm starter at CB. Then Laporte in 18/19.

To win 100 pts with Otamendi as main CB and Delph at LB seems impossible. Also, Sterling was 22, Sane 21, Jesus 20. That Pep managed to pull it off, breaking many records in the process, is absolutely incredible. Then Pep won 98 pts with Zin at LB and KDB missing half the season, Ferna struggling with injuries too.

Maybe Pep can do such things again.
 
It's Turkey , but the news of Ederson to Galatasaray has gone crazy this morning multiple Turkish sources all at once, even one saying they want Ederson for Saturday

I’m always dubious about any news from Turkey. There’s so many stories about players joining Galatasaray or Fenerbache that never come to fruition.
 
I feel like the new from Turkey is probably they’ve agreed terms with Eddie/his agent but if any truth to the 3m bid it will never happen.

We will want a proper fee for him. One more year of him with Trafford challenging is worth far more than 3m.

I’m starting to warm to the idea of Nunes and Rico being the RB options. I have like many others thought this was a priority but feel like a panic buys the last thing we need. I trust Pep and the team, look at all the amazing makeshift tactics over the last few years. I also think this helps Khusanov break into the first team again due to his pace covering back.

Nico extension and new squad number news show the club are committed and along with the fact we have players to shift feel like this is why we dropped out of the MGW deal or certainly looking for a midfielder. Nico is getting his chance and thoroughly deserved.

Reports about Reis wanting a move make sense, he wants game time. But also reports the club don’t want him to leave. I feel like as the guys that know more have suggested - we will see developments now the squad is back and conversations are to be had. If we can shift defenders we could easily see Reis stay. After all he has all the potential qualities to take Stones place. Obviously had a lot of work to do because at his best Stones may be the best CB I’ve ever seen.

I mean that’s not a bad comparison!!

I think he wants game time which is great, I wouldn’t be surprised if the clubs plan was for that to happen here. Just need to shift some of Stones, Akanji and/or Ake.

Sentimentally id rather Stones stay and have young guys cover his minutes. Tactically I think Akanji staying is the best fit, he covers all 3 positions and isn’t really injury prone especially compared to the other 2. Realistically Ake has the best to offer on paper if he stays fit as he helps cover CB and LB.

Going to be interesting to see what happens!!

Some great talents in the youth ranks and Bah still to develop. We will be fine it’s just how we do it!

He does like he has composure and good passing range, him, Khusanov and Bah could have us nicely set up for the future.

I don't know what you've been smoking mate, but the crazy idea that a young-ish player could play less than a full season in a new, specialist position under one of the best coaches of all time and then continue to improve the following season is just absolute fucking bonkers.

My guess is this was the plan when we bought him.

He hadn't even had 20 appearances in Brazil, and clearly needs somewhere to develop. Girona will be excellent at allowing him to develop against top level opposition week in week out.
