It's Quiet the £250m return

Again, the AI screenshot has links to several sports lawyer sites who are all saying we have a contractual obligation to play & pay players under contract.

If you don't know the legalities about this situation, it would have been better to just say so. I don't know either, hence me asking the question, what if some of the old guard refuse to leave? We can't register them & all the new recruits, so where does the club stand with not registering & not playing players under contract?

The sports lawyer sites seem to be saying we'd be in breach of contract & subject to fines & sanctions. My hope is like most City fans, that if/when push comes to shove, the affected old guard will find themselves new clubs so we don't have to find out what would happen if we don't register & play them.

You never know, some might just do a Danny Mills & be happy to keep turning up to training & picking up their vast wages.
Oh give over mate, are you really saying we have to play players who are under contract? Are you not getting how insane that is?

As @Alan Harper's Tash said earlier, don’t recall Carson appearing too often for us….

Doesn’t Echeverri being U21 count?
Well yes but him being loaned out isn't because of a lack of space in the squad. Its because hes still a teenager. Is very raw and has half a dozen better options ahead of him. We're not going to be shifting out a player in a different position to accommodate yet another 10/winger.

I think it is more to do with a lack of space in the squad tbh. Both are relevant but if we could fit him in, I think Pep would happily keep him and use him a s a wild card in games.

The problem is we are 4 over the nhg limit, and he and Reis are easy to loan out.

I honestly don't know, hence me asking the question on BM today. I recall a similar conversation on here several years ago & seem to remember the outcome being we have an obligation to play players who're under contract. Someone else remembers it too.

No one was sure, so I looked it up & clicked the links on the Google generated AI summary, & it's the sports lawyer firms who seems to be saying we'd have a contractual obligation to play & pay players under contract, not me.

I just wanted to know out of interest, but you seem to be suggesting I'm claiming this to be the case & I'm trying to back it up using Google AI. I was merely asking the question & no one seemed certain, so I looked it up.

Mate, read the last couple of pages & stop trying to turn this into something it isn't.

I’ll leave you to it, I have read the last few pages so no issue on that front.

I have better things to do than debate a situation that won’t occur, lol.

If thats the case then we can do that. He doesn't need to be registered in the league, he'll only be unavailable for say an average of a dozen CL games, games which we'd be unlikely to use a wildcard anyway.

If hes loaned out, it's because we're stacked in that position and he's simply bottom of the pecking order and somebody who could improve by playing regularly.

Not for the CL squad, which has always been what the club have bult the squad to, as long as we have been in the competition.
OK, thanks. I'm gutted it seems we're loaning him out, & like others I'm concerned that reports are suggesting Echeverri wants Roma & Roma want him, but with an option to buy. He's barely kicked a ball for us yet...

You really need to find something more productive to do with your time instead of acting the smart arse, & trying to generate arguments where there isn't one to be had. Enjoy your evening...

You are right, we can.

But that is something people argue every bloody year, and are always wrong.

We didn't do it with Zinchenko, Angelino, Savinho, Sane, Balotelli... and so many others.

The club build a squad to comply with the CL squad make-up, and not leave players out. Which in turn by default complies with PL rules.

Agree. Hope we find a way to keep him this season.

17 limit of foreign trained players over 21 applies to the PL squad too.

I don't believe we'll agree to a loan with any option to buy

His point is that u21 players who have been at the club less than 2 years, take up one of the 17 spaces in the CL (if we want to register them) but not in the PL where they just have to be u21.
Yes I see that now, of course we can keep Echeverri as an U21 for PL only if necessary and Girona are out of Europe completely next season of course - which perhaps explains his preference for Roma, who are qualified for the Europa League.

Hi, regarding Echeverri, several well-known Italian sources have reported that he doesn't want to join Girona and instead prefers a move to Roma. However, Roma are insisting on including a buy option in the loan deal.
This makes me a bit worried — does anyone know if this is true, or if he might end up staying at City instead?
Neither Roma nor the player are in any position whatsoever to dictate terms to City. They have zero leverage
So stop flapping

I've no idea if we are or not, as very little is coming out of the club. ITK's have said some tough & honest conversations were held with the old guard on their return to training last week, however Ederson, Stones, Gundog have publicly stated their intentions to remain, & now apparently Grealish has said he thinks his future is at the Etihad too, after having a heart to heart with Guardiola at the Oasis concert.

There can only be 25 with 17 non-HG. Something's gotta give...
Clearly the conversations were not harsh enough. Imagine your boss is telling you that you have to let go of a few employees as a team leader, and after the said conversations, the employees go out and say how happy they are to stay. Something has been mishandled if that's the outcome, that's for sure.
