It's Quiet the £250m return

It maybe easier to loan out younger players on smaller wages, but that begs the question of what was the point in us acquiring so many new younger players to replace our ageing, injury-prone players?

Aren't those ageing, injury-prone players the real issue?
Of course they are. Ideally Gundogan, Grealish, and at least one of Akanji/Ake/Stones would already be out the door...

Yes but as there players on big wages they are harder to shift I think reiss and echerveri were always seen as long term prospects.

3 of them are out of contract next summer. Maybe we felt we couldn't wait that long to buy their replacements
Didn't the squad size issue occur to us when we effectively bought the old guard's replacements?

Was it our intention to move on the ageing, injury-prone players, but most have said they're staying put?

The only new player I recall it definitely being said that they'd be loaned out was Bah. Echeverri & Reis came across like "let's see how it goes". Surely there was a degree of certainty regarding squad numbers come September?

But we're still over our quota, even if Reis & Echeverri are loaned out.

It seems the tough conversations were were supposed to have with our ageing stars last week, will have to be tougher still.

It will be 1 when ortega goes could be gonzalez khusanov savinho as a younger player that's just come in. Possibly akanji or kovacic on a permanent deal.

I'm sure it did, and I'm sure they'll sort it by the time the window closes

Like Foden & Haaland?

As someone posited earlier, the term "uncs" encapsulates quite a lot with what went wrong for us last season. Ageing, injury-prone players, who have lost the edge of physicality & the legs they possessed in their prime.

I'm not saying a better term couldn't have been found, but what the term relates to is far more important (imo), than the term itself, whoch in many cultures is a term of endearment.
Yes I know that. I think it’s especially a Nigerian/african term of endearment.

However when I see it expressed on here it’s normally followed by disparaging comments afterwards. It’s almost feels mocking.

I’m not so precious that I’m offended by it but I do think the likes of Bernardo and ilkay should be spoken about with more respect after all that’s been contributed by the pair.

„ tough conversations“ looks like they are all staying and the younger guys getting loaned out. It’s World Cup year it makes sense that Reis wants game time and that Echeverri prefers Roma who give him a better chance to join the national team than Girona.

We've still got almost a month to sort any outgoings, and hopefully an incoming or two (still holding out hope for a right back).

I hope the term "uncs" disappears from the scene as quickly as it arrived......

Is it a manc word or entirely made up on social media?

First time I was in Manchester.. I overheard people talking "We was sat..." and I'm thinking.. how can people in England not know how to talk English.. It's "We were sitting" or "We sat down"

Feels like clubs are waiting until the last week of the window to go for Grealish, probably want us to pay his wages on a loan deal.

Never heard of it until about January this year on bluemoon.Shit word wherever it came from.

In that case we won't be able to register all our players for the PL. The sale of u-21 players does not help in registering all our senior players.
We will be. The surplus of 4 is for the CL squad. The PL squad is a surplus of 2, as Reis and Ech don't count towards the 17 there anyway.

Yes but we are not in danger of breaking any rules in respect to Echeverri and Reis. The squad rules (PL and CL) exempt u-21 players. We can only register 25 senior players in the PL which means that City will be forced sellers of players like Grealish, Phillips, Kabore, Wilson-Esbrand etc. If Echeverri and Reis are banging on the door demanding games, then fair enough but that seems unlikely to me. Echeverri played in the FA Cup Final and the CWC and Reis is also close to the first team. I think they will get games. We will miss them on a League Cup, FA Cup or CL night. I would rather sell Gundogan and Grealish. That opens space for Echeverri as a PL sub.

I think "uncs" is a social media word created by the youth of today to dismiss anyone over the age of 30 as having one foot in the grave.

You're not wrong by the way, plenty of English people have a terrible grasp of the language, yet I find many people from other parts of the world speak English perfectly as well as their native language.

Echeverri & Reis don't qualify as U21 for CL as they haven't been at the club for 2 years

Its going to be really frustrating if the line up comes out for Wolves with Stones, Ake, Akanji, Gundogan, Kovacic all on the bench (or even line up) whilst Khusanov, Nico G, and Nico O all sit at home.

I like all of them (the older players) but we need to be freshening up the squad and you know if the above are still around we just delay the younger players another year.

People can no longer accept even the concept of a long term prospect, if we buy them, they simply have to play immediately otherwise Pep doesnt rate them and it's a pointless purchase.

Several outlets reporting that we've included a mid-season break clause in Reis loan contract to Girona, to cover us in the case of injury presumably to Stones, Aké & Akanji, which suggests they're all staying.

This report states an "immediate return", but surely he can't be registered before January?
