It's Quiet the £250m return

Everyone played shit yesterday. Not a system issue IMO - they created fuck all apart from the two goals, which were gifts. We should have had 2 or 3 in spite of how toothless we looked.

Not personally willing to write off the new signings after one bad game, we've seen what they're capable of already at the CWC and last weekend.

Everyone knows we need a new right back. Everyone knows Lewis isn't the solution there long-term - including Pep and Rico himself. But he's doing a job for the team. No point going on about how much you don't rate him.

Just as it was premature to claim we were going to win it all last weekend, it's premature to say we're not going to be anywhere near this weekend.

We'll see what happens this week. I expect Ederson to leave and Donnarumma to come in. I expect Savinho to leave, but it might come at the death and we may not sign a replacement. I wouldn't rule out a right back either, especially if Akanji goes.

Exactly, Marmoush missed 3 easy chances prior to their first which could have seen a completely different outcome and Haaland a header that should be going in at both 1-0 and 2-0

Another day we may have fluked a result from a below par performance, but we didn't which is what football is, random and sometimes dissapointing.

Next week we could come out and win. and this will be a memory (until lthe next loss of course)

Spot on. Yesterday's loss is not something you 'fix' on paper.

Which is why this forum after a match like that becomes borderline unbearable.

Still have a feeling nothing much will happen.

If anything, yesterday will probably have made Pep want to talk Ederson round for 1 more year. Donnarumma might be a big name but he’ll have the same problems Trafford is having playing out from the back.

Rodrygo/Savinho is all a bit pointless, if Savinho stays then fine, if we bring Rodrygo in then he won’t be much better.

Right back and central midfield needs strengthening but we aren’t the club to pull out last minute deals from left field.

Think we stay as we are.

No he didn't. One was a great piece of goalkeeping and another was a great piece of anticipation and narrowly missing from a tight angle. The real problem is Haaland. You could certainly put a fair montage of his glaring misses together over the past 18 months. When he doesn't score he's a liabilty. Marmoush is possibly our best presser from the front. That horrendous (attempted) pass from Haaland yesterday will take a lot of erasing from my mind. It seems Rico, Doku, Savinho and Trafford are fair game for criticism but Haaland is exempt.
Also, the tactics that have been well and truly sussed by every other team. Until we get some real, genuine, pace and physicality in the team we will struggle.

We don't have the right pieces right now to win any league or the big prizes we are in transition. I agree with Tolmie our era of dominance is over and sooner we accept that the better.

Personally, once Gvariol is back, I'd put Stones at right back and use him as as an inverted right back. Play Doku right wing to give us width on that side.
At this point, I’d rather Pep try something like that this season with the right back position and basically make it a third center back role / 6 position.

This grand idea by Pep that Rico (& Nunes) could be a Philip Lahm / Kimmich type player for this city squad has turned into a disaster now for 18 months.

The premier league is light years ahead of where the bundesliga was when Pep manged Bayern with those tactics, and we continue to pay the price for Rico’s lack of pace and Nunes lack of positional awareness.

Absolute bullshit
Two well known facts about Donarumma

1. not good with the ball at his feet - he has made numerous mistakes like the one trafford made yesterday
2. he is no good under the high ball and almost refuses to come for crosses

So where is the bullshit?

Edit

Bigger problems - fullback areas, CDM area with a lack of physicality

He's an international, champions league winning beast. Next

Couldn’t agree more.
Donarumma makes no sense to me. He just doesn’t play the game like we do. I really can’t see Pep changing our style. We play this way throughout the club, in all age groups, the EDS etc. It seems highly unlikely we will throw it all up in the air now to accommodate a player who is also suspect in the air.
Also agree re the rb. Lewis, good as I think he is needs legs around him and some physicality in midfield, which we don’t have. Nunes is not a defender and is an average midfielder - Pep doesn’t fancy him and I’m not surprised.
We are desperate for a right back and we were exposed badly when Ait Nouri went off.

This is what I am not grasping, I think.
Posters are speaking of us being second best in every department and bossed all over the pitch.
I am thinking that is not the game I watched. There were two mistakes that gifted two goals and we created more chances and had moments of excellent play.

I am disappointed with the loss. I am annoyed at the bench smiles when we are 0-2. I am annoyed at the 'acceptance' of defeat - I wanted more urgency in the final period of the game. But, we were not terrible. We just lost, and it hurts.

Very well said

A week of transfer musical chairs ahead - a few less and a couple of new posteriors in those left when the music stops?
My guess is Eddy, Gundo, Akanji & Savinho out & Gigi, Rodrygo and hopefully a right back in.
