The reality is we completely messed up the succession planning after the Treble - partly because of Pep’s intransigence- but the Execs should have overruled him- the club is bigger than him. We found ourselves last season falling off a cliff as the old guard aged (and injuries robbed us of key players) and we’ve been scrambling around signing players left right and centre- and we’ve made too many signings in a short period of time, and it’s become difficult to integrate them - and we’ve become disjointed as a result. It’s going to be a challenging season, we are gonna struggle to make top 4, but hopefully we will see progress and we may challenge next year (although it may take longer). We had a position of ultimate power and we squandered it, we are now operating from a position of weakness and that’s on the club and the senior Execs. I trust in them to turn this around but it will take time. There are no silver bullets to fix this, we have to turn the players we’ve acquired into a winning machine again - and that going to take time. Patience and resilience is going to be required because we are not gonna be a top 4 club this season and we are going to have to work on long term solutions because there are no quick fixes - things are too broken for that.

Goalkeeper sorted which is positive but we still need a RB and with Foden missing and Cherki injured for two months we probably need another attacking player as we looked completely toothless on the bench yesterday. It was Doku or nothing.
Why are we only shopping for young players? Excluding Reijnders most of the players we've signed are under 23. Why not go for more established players with experience? Not talking in the 30 bracket but 25 to 28 bracket.

Signing young players with resale value puts us in a good position to in future seasons reclaim the one trophy that matters, being net spend champions.Why are we only shopping for young players? I know it won't happen but Lookman is there for 35 million or on loan. He got 15 goals and 5 assists last season from the wing. 27 years of age. With Cherki being out for 2 months would be a good piece of business

We’re not signing anybody today and it’s because we’ve completely failed in shifting the likes of Gundogan, Akanji and Ortega
Meaning if we don’t get more out we don’t get more in.

Our outgoing management has been appalling this summer.
Think Reijinders, Cherki and Ait Nouri are decent but if we've not been able to sign a right back because Akanji and Gundogan refuse to leave then that is maddening.
