The contract thing can be said about any player leaving, whether its Ferran or Koulibaly.

We are not paying him Sanchez salary

Paid 50m for him, was coached by Pep for 4 years therefore his value should go up as he is still 26 years old.
His abilities as a player have gone into decline and consequently he is seriously over paid.

Would you agree that someone on wages of 75k would fetch a larger transfer fee than say, someone on 150k? Do you think a club like West Ham wants to blow up their pay structure on John Stones?

He has been coached by Pep, but he hasn't really taken off has he? Whether that is due to injuries or other things it doesn't really matter. We are not getting 50m for him.

I think the fact pep has had him for 4 years and stones still has improved and is now getting injuries constantly has pissed pep off and he wants him gone.

I imagine you are right.

I'm wondering what the fuck has happened to him. I never wanted him in the first place but it very much appeared as if he was going to vastly exceed my expectations & imo he hit a period where he was one of the absolute best cbs in Europe, but it seems like he's slept in a hedge ever since. Now he is exactly what I thought he would be before we signed him.

I would still think he could get back to where he was though, which, imo, is better than Garcia will ever be, as a cb, much rather have a fully focused JS. Pep used to big up his personality but doesn't seem to have the same opinion anymore.

He’s had a couple of injuries including one serious one, he has also had a head f*^k of a time in his private life.

He hasn’t been in the right mind set for 18 months - when he is he def can be the partner for Laporte - no questions. However the current question is will he get back to his best

I for one hope he does and quickly

Neither are good enough now but if you look at their history at the club, Otamendi in 17/18 played at a level Stones can only dream of. In addition, if we look at ROI, Otamendi has provided far more value than Stones.

Sorry but Ota has never played at a decent level ever - he has had better moments/periods of a season where his performances have improved but for me he has been a horror story waiting to happen since day 1 at the club - he is dire

Otamendi is far less an issue.

Earns considerably less than Stones and out of contract next summer.

He can count on a lot more suitors abroad than Stones has in England.

I think we would be foolish to sell Stones this summer. Garcia is not as good at this time and might never be.

If he could stay fit I wouldn't be apposed to a back 3 of Stones, Ake and Laporte especially if we can get Mendy back to his best or get a good left wing back.

Back 3 would be such a waste of our attacking talent. 1 extra CB means 1 less forward/attacking midfielder.

agreed - our forwards without sergio are clinical enough to play like this.....Id be happy to see Pep dump the idea of a back 3 permanently and have left back who s decent going forward but can also defend
