I wonder if we’ve set a deadline for this prospective deal.

A transfer of this magnitude will invariably take some time but we usually try to conduct our business before the season begins.

So what does he do? Because Barca won’t budge.

I don't think that's a real issue.

From what TH and the more reliable people in the press have said, it seems like the Messi's are trying to find an amicable exit. They're doing that very publicly.

If, after several high profile meetings, Bartomeu still won't budge, they will just leave, and back their lawyers' (and the lawyers who wrote the contract) interpretation of the contract - especially if they've consulted FIFA on it too.

It seems like it's more about showing that Messi tried to leave on good terms then actually needing them to let him go.

At least this is my optimistic interpretation.

@tolmie's hairdoo saying City hope to not get involved presumably means they still think they might not have to pay a fee or negotiate with Barcelona in any way, they think Messi can extricate himself from Barcelona, and they'll sign him as a free agent.

It's the biggest of shitholes, if you manage to survive the stairs up to the away end, it's like watching from the top of the mountain, i wouldn't have been much further away if i'd have stayed at home and watched it on the sofa!!

And watching through a net. After 10 pints of estrella I didn’t have a clue what I was watching

City still hopeful we don't have to get involved :)

This isn't about money, it isn't about hating on Barca, either.

He just thinks this is the moment to experience his football with other people he truly respects.
