Messi's dad still talking to us over the weekend. Make of this whatever you prefer!
Encouraging! I hope it's about coming before this window closes as opposed to some preliminary agreement to sign him for the 22/23 season onwards. I don't Know if you can clarify that or not but anyway, anything is better than nothing. We can still dine out on it either way.

I think we can still get him now if we can agree a fee and maybe send Garcia in the other direction. Cheers Tolmie.

Having defended the club for not buying Maguire, I have to agree with your last point. We now seem to be looking at a choice between Koulibaly or Koulibaly if we buy an experienced CB. It bothers me how many suggest he may be past his peak, although that might well be bollox. The only other contenders appear to be relatively raw.

Our record with young central defenders is not good. Those we buy turn to shit. Those we move on seem to blossom elsewhere. You‘d think out of all the decent teams in the world there’d be some strong established candidates in their mid-twenties.
Central defenders tend to have a longer sell by date than some outfield players. If they stay fit, they can go to 35 before they start to burn out.

Some call him the new Aguero. Others emphatically deny that. Like so many players, he seems to divide opinion.

I didn't mention anything about suggestion. Plenty of blues wrote them off after they ran us close the season before and won the CL. Then won the PL last season with no significant reinforcements. I hope they do fall away but no one knows.
Either they got very lucky with injuries these last two seasons or they factor in how injury prone a player has been prior to signing. Their bench is not a strength but they get away with it because their first team players all seem to play for most of the season without lengthy injury interruptions.

They also throw all of the cup competitions early on so they don't have to rely on the bench as much.
