BBC Gossip features talk of a Messi pay cut and Suarez contractual dispute.

There must be a strong temptation for Barcelona to sell Messi.

Watching Chelsea tonight I was well impressed with Werner. Can see him scoring loads but very unimpressed with Havertz. Early days of course.

City do keep a lot of things hidden to do with transfers for example Laporte that deal came out of no where in 24 hours, another example Bernardo Silva that came out of the blue to.
Laporte deal did not come out of nowhere. It broke out mid January 2018 and signed 2 weeks later on the last day I think.

Bernardo Silva has been the only transfer done "quietly" under Txiki Begiristain. Its a myth that we transfer business quietly.

The chances are that there are simply nothing going on as that Messi transfer took our all attention and now are scrambling about. Who knows. I don't know why we were chasing Messi in the first place as it was never happening.

Might just be me but I am guessing given the quality and quantity of highly educated very capable people we have on numerous continents, we have more than one phone.

What exactly would have taken the entire attention of everybody at the CFA with regards to Messi? Every report suggested there was no problem with messi’s side and Barca flat out refused to entertain his sale with us never even putting a bid in so I fail to see what would have occupied everybody to the point where they can’t do anything else. It’s such a weird suggestion. The only instance where the Messi situation would overlap with any other business is if we could only afford either Messi or a new cb and again all reports suggested the messi deal would not impact the rest of our dealings.

Are there no CBs for under £50mil? or is costing more than that the pre-requisite to getting straight into our first team these days?

Unfortunately, Liverpool and united have set the benchmark of £75-80m for a competent PL centre half. We did well to get Ake for around £40m. I suspect he'll be a first team regular before long.

Pisses me off no-one talks about this, not even the geniuses on this thread.
If united are happy to spunk 80mil on Harry fucking Maguire imagine what you’d think if you’re trying to sell a half decent CB
