I think Pep gets spooked by physicality. That gets relaid to Txiki and we sign someone like Rodri. Mendy seems a similar signing. Neither good and quick enough on the ball for our team. In different teams and leagues they’d work but get exposed with us.

What we need is for Pep to commit to an extended contract

If it’s not sure he will stay then why would the club spend more money on his players he wants and why would players commit to coming

We could blow 500 million on defenders and we will still be shite. The midfield needs to be fixed. It's horribly imbalanced. A Foden/Kevin pair might have worked with Dinho picking up 90% of the defensive duties, but it won't work with Rodri. The defence is far too exposed and the back line is suidical without the frenzied counter press of 17/18 and 18/19. I'll keep banging on this drum until the end of the season.

We need a midfield that is so fucking good that the players start 90% of the matches - no tactical rotation. Like Silva, Dinho and Kevin in 17/18 and Silva, Dinho and Bernardo in 18/19. Right now we have Gundo as the only option for LCM, Rodri the 1st choice option for DM and Kevin, Foden and Bernardo as 3 options for the RCM role. 3 world class players for right #8 and only Gundo for the left one. This is fucking madness.

Apparently we’re touting Zinchenko about - and if we get a bite, that might see a left back coming in.

If not - it’s Dias, and that’s us done for the summer.

If we can complete the signings of Dias and Tagliafico then I'd rather play either 5 at the back or Ake/Stones as the midfield anchor.
