I don’t think Zinchenko is the long-term answer but he doesn’t give possession away high up the pitch with the alarming regularity Mendy does. I think we will see Zinchenko play at lb regularly as soon as he is fit because Mendy‘s performances have been erratic and it’s clear teams are targeting our left flank. I think Zinchenko can steady the ship and help settle the back 4 - which should be our immediate priority... until the comedy defending ends we can put all other aspirations on hold.

I think he's shit, but you are right, he simply does not fuck up as much as Mendy does.

If Cancelo could learn to defend even to an average standard, he would be the best option attacking.

Ake will be the most solid option defensively, but imo if you have a cb running around the pitch like a fullback, he'll get injured, so he can't be the main choice every week.

To be honest whatever Sane's qualities, savvy game thinking wasn't one.
Not sure we were watching the same Leroy, kid is easily among the top 4 wingers in Europe at the moment. Had everything, look at his goals and assists record, set pieces. I get it, he is no longer here but I am not going to discredit him for refusing to be on the bench while Mahrez plays every other week.

What has that to do with savvy game thinking, which was probably the main reason Pep left him on the bench. I liked Sane and would have liked him to stay. That said he isn't top 4 and I think Torres will be different but as good if not better.

Yeah let’s see where we finish this season and next.
Absolutely. This thread has become like the nation's politics - disparate and polarised.
In my opinion, we have bought well and it is easy to forget that we have been damaged badly by injury for the whole of last season and this. It is almost impossible to legislate for the loss of your whole left side last season and now, the loss of both forwards. Fortunately, we are beginning to see the fruits of Academy investment and with Doyle, Palmer, Delap, THB and others, we have deeper cover than we have previously had. It won't cover what happened last season, but that was fairly unique.

What the fuck does savvy game thinking even mean? is this like some kind of new football term? Leroy's assists was just second behind kdb's and he finished with double digit assists for two seasons straight and somehow he isn't "game savvy"? Only player that seems up for a fight whenever we play the dippers and some how he isn't game savvy? whatever happened between him and pep that's football, managers have preferences, you just have to look at the Bale - Zidane debacle at RM! I would not undermine leroy's qualities all because he did what was best for his career.
Sometimes I just don't get some of the shit talk here on bluemoon.

Savvy game thinking? yeah right.
