Point nailed. No team in history repeatedly buy players just in case others get injured.
Regarding Kompany, we have bought Dias and Ake. If either is injured, we have Stones, THB, Garcia, Mendy and Zinchenko as cover. You may not like them, but there is no other team in the PL with that quality of back up.

Regarding the replacement of Silva, you could argue that he is irreplaceable as one of the world's greatest midfielders of the last decade. Equally, you could argue that in Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva, we have excellent players of potential world-class, ready to occupy his position.

Regarding Leroy, I believe that Ferran will prove to be his equal, at least. It's a matter of opinion and time whether that proves to be the case.
Exactly, this idea that if someone gets injured we’re fucked is mental because that's true of most teams. All we can do now is spend millions on our medical team instead of players

We did what? With who? Torres is decent but he'll never be as good as Sane, especially not in the next 3/4 years.

This window is heavily reliant on Laporte and Ruben forming a solid partnership. If Diaz struggles or either get injured we're in the shit. In just over 12 months we've lost Sane, Kompany and Silva - three huge players not just talent wise but personalities. We haven't replaced them with anywhere near their quality so if this transfer deadline day passes with no further signings then it will be a disappointing transfer window that promised so much a few weeks ago.

Torres is more savvy than Sane for in game thinking he is great buy

I would rather eat ants than watch Zinchenko, but I fear we may all be watching a lot of him by Christmas.

Ridiculous situation.

I don’t think Zinchenko is the long-term answer but he doesn’t give possession away high up the pitch with the alarming regularity Mendy does. I think we will see Zinchenko play at lb regularly as soon as he is fit because Mendy‘s performances have been erratic and it’s clear teams are targeting our left flank. I think Zinchenko can steady the ship and help settle the back 4 - which should be our immediate priority... until the comedy defending ends we can put all other aspirations on hold.

Ed Woodward is wondering about the second paragraph of this post... is that really true he asks?

For the price we paid he is a very good buy, I'm not disputing that or his quality.

My last few posts are based on this as a transfer window rather than our squad as such. We have lost big players over the last few years which has seen us fall from being comfortably the best in the league to being 20 points behind first. Replacing Kompany, Silva and Sane with Diaz, Torres and Ake is a gamble that may not pay off. And I like all 3 players btw.

I can’t see why people are saying we’ve not bought a left back. It’s obvious from Ake’s interview that he’ll be playing there a lot. I recon pep will end up coaching him up to make lb his main position. He’s sold, technical, a good defender and fast. Everything everyone on here is saying we need in a lb. We have mendy or Cancelo if we want to play someone who bombs forward, probably against weaker teams. Striker has been our main issue but you don’t just sign someone for 3 weeks. What happens in a few weeks when Jesus and Aguero are fit? We all love a signing but unless a superstar is available it’d be crazy to just sign someone for the sake of it. That’s what United do and are doing today by the looks of it. At full strength, I’m very happy with our squad. Diaz, Ake and Torres are great signings imo
