Get Mendy out on a loan with us paying majority of wage, frees up a spot as I don’t think we need to be overly concerned about a left back this window/season - as I said the other day, we can easily cope with Zinchenko, Cancelo, Laporte and Ake covering that spot, as we’ve pretty much done all this season.

I agree with this but Rodri, Fernandinho and Gundogan are slow, that in front of Dias, Stones and Laporte is a big liability that good teams can and will exploit, then what happens if Rodri picks up a long term injury, I am hoping the Club offers him a coaching role that was muttered months ago.

Well look at it a different way.

Let‘s assume we get Haaland and with Jesus they are our 2 front players, then Rodders and Dinho are the 2 DMs.

So, for the attacking mids and the wingers, 4 positions per game, we have Kev, Bernie, Phil, Gundo, Mahrez, Sterling, Torres and then potentially Grealish or Messi making the 8. Or we shift out, for example, Mahrez if the right bid comes in and we could get both.

I can never get my head around the 17 overseas players, and who is in or out of that list, so happy to be corrected.

As it stands:

Eddie
Steffen
Cancelo
Laporte
Dias
Zinchenko
Rodders
Dinho
Kev
Bernie
Gundo
Torres
Mahrez
Jesus

That‘s 14 with Sergio and Mendy left out.

English/Home grown players - Carson, Ake, Walker, Stones, Raz, Phil.

So if Ake has to go in the overseas, not sure, then that’s 15 and can add Haaland and Messi to get the 17, and in theory Grealish would be in the English list?

All hypothetical of course.
