And conceding goals at important moments, which he can't do anything about.

One of my misgivings about signing Messi, is Pep doing a Pellegrini & forgetting about building anything, just cashing in on trophies & then fucking off, with Messi.

There is no reason we can't put the same effort into fixing the defensive play, as well as the attacking play.

We see with Barca now, what you end up with if you neglect the other parts of the team.
"Building something" is the director of football's job. Pep's is to win trophies. If he wins a bunch then leaves it's job done.

IF he comes and IF he gets paid a portion of his income via equity, it's a MASTERSTROKE. Increased sponsorship revenue will come in to the club WITHOUT significant associated expense. Creating increased profit and supporting future transfers.

However, not sure how FFP addresses the issue of player salary/compensation coming from a back ended share call option. On the surface I'd guess FFP has never thought of this.

It was explained earlier it’s perfectly legit and UEFA can’t cover it under FFP. Very clever move by City and another ingenious way to a) circumnavigate the rules, b) piss off the rest of the footballing world

Right - So they always say the best form of defence is attack right?

As things stand, with the most bang average defence we've had for the past few seasons, people already have to double mark De Bruyne

What's it going to be like when they have to afford the same treatment to Messi?

Going to be like when we had Nasri - Silva - Yaya all in the same side, you can stop one of them, but not all of them

I don't care how much we all suffer from cityitus, it's madness how some people on here can turn getting the best player of a generation into a negative

Are people just looking for reasons to complain?

Not to mention the fact that our mediocre defence conceded the second fewest goals in the PL!

They can cash in on as many trophies as they like !

Wonder if there has ever been a player/director before?

Nonsense.

You can't build a team without the manager.

Imagine if I was d.o.f. Pep would signal to the bench to bring on Gundogan & discover I'd swapped him for a table lamp.
