WIth Messi, I think you adopt the strategy of assuming he'll never leave, but putting yourself in the best position possible so that if he does jump, it's into our arms and no one else.

We've got the best friend, the manager he loves, a very strong side that's already winning, they've done the contractual leg work so a deal can be done quicker than anywhere else, they've stayed in contact for 10 years so he knows how much he's wanted.

And then you just plan for next season like it's not going to happen.

Agree with the summary but don't agree the signings & players linked, make it worse.

Most are quick, for a start.

The squad have the next fortnight off and the window is small anyway, certainly in terms of wanting names in before the season starts again.

Stands to reason Txiki will now attempt to get busy once the European competitions do end this weekend.

City are making is very clear that no bid has been lodged for Koulibaly and it's not even very clear if it's going to come.

If there are two names already done, it's can't be Koulibaly, certainly not according to people at City.

I'd count Fernandinho out of that scenario. Lockdown and now back to back seasons have come at the wrong time for him. Can't see him being a bit part player because he'll be even further off the pace when he does play.
