What’s the actual situation?

He has 1 year left on his contract but the £700m clause apparently ended at the end of last season, also at the same time as his leave for free clause?

So he has 1 year left still but no buyout clause so would have to negotiate a fee?

Or he has the right to trigger his release clause which he has. The issue is the timeframe,Messi says ‘x’ days after the CL final, the club say it’s a set date.

What about it? It’s a fair wage and will include sponsorship dealings, shirt sales etc. £375k pw is £19.5m a year. We have 42 sponsors who all signed a Messi tax agreement apparently, if they all added £1m a year as a minimum that’s £42m extra so we’d be making £22.5m profit, but bigger sponsors will pay bigger money so in reality it’ll be a lot lot more.
“We won’t be giving Barça a penny, nor are we giving Messi any.”
Any wonder I’m confused.

And the games when we score twice ?

How many matches have we lost this season in which we had a lower expected goal stat than the opposition?

Our defence has undoubtedly been worse this season, but it also coincided with the fact our best CB has been injured for the majority of it.

We’ve added pace to our back line and the players will be hungry to win the title. Getting Messi would transform the mentality of this side as well!

City’s problem is defence: False I’m afraid. Conceded 36 v Liverpool’s 35(tightest defence in the league).

Our problem has been closing games out where we have had 70% possession, 29 shots on target and no goals.

In my humble opinion.
City's defence isn't good against decent teams, we nearly always concede against any half decent team who we don't totally dominate. You can't have watched much of City if you think our back 4 was solid in big games last season.

Correct

Giving him shares is a piece of paper, it’s not physical money as such. It’s a security deposit for Messi in reality, “look the shares are worth £180m today, but in 3 years they’ll be worth £240m. See out your 3 year contract then cash them in” it’s an incentive to stay for the duration and gives him a huge payday based on loyalty. In those 3 years we’ll make a shit tonne more than £240m as an example.

If his contract expires 30.06.2021, that is like 10 months left.

Surely there is a chance for Messi to buy himself out and the maximum cost would be in this case his 10 months salary, is that correct?

Also the employer could terminate his contract and the cost of that would be maximum 10 months of his salary.

How much is 10 months salary for him? Surely lot less than 100m + 2-3 City players total cost.

I really dont get why this option is rarely mentioned. If we pay anything to Barca it should be paid to Messi to buy himself out and that to me seem a cheaper way than whatever deal Barca would agree with us.

If we signed Messi and got relegated i would not give a shit at least we still manged to sign THE BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD :)

You can’t have read my post if that’s they point you think i’m making.

We were susceptible because we had a weakness in midfield caused by an injury to our first choice central defender meaning our first choice defensive midfield had to play out of position. This led to us being open at the back. Since then we have signed Ake. And we are in for KK.

In my opinion, you might not share it, we dropped points when we didn’t convert chances.

Roughly £40m

They tried to fuck us over and now we’re sailing close to wind on the hope they don’t change the rules.
Seems I’m the only one worried by this.

Honestly, How perfect must your life be if you're spending these hours worrying about something quite frankly, neither you, I, or most City Fans have no authority to speak on or know much about.

Sit back and enjoy the ride my friend, leave it in the hands of the same people who insisted we were innocent and were vindicated by the decision of an Independent institution who's sole focus is dispute resolution
